Sen. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr has congratulated presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte over his victory in the May 9, 2016 polls.
“Nais kong batiin ang aking matalik na kaibigan na si ‘Mayor President” Rodrigo “Digong’ Duterte,” Marcos said in a statement.
Marcos, who is still fighting to get the vice-presidential post, expressed confidence that Duterte will be able to bring peace process in Mindanao because he knows the roots of the problem being a Mindanaoan.
“As the first President from Mindanao, I am certain you will continue our efforts in the peace process in order to finally usher in a period of harmony and development in the Land of Promise,” he said.
“I wish nothing but the best for you because when a President does well, so does the country,” said Marcos, whose supporters are also in favor of the Duterte and Marcos tandem, which was dubbed as “Aldub”. The term was coined after the popular love team– Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, but Duterte and Marcos’ supporters have given it a different meaning, “Alyansang Duterte at Bongbong”.
