Senate

AK-Sen: PPP Sez: Dan S. Sullivan is widening his lead in the Republican primary, 40-26-12 over Mead Treadwell and Joe Miller. The general picture hasn’t changed, with Sen. Mark Begich (D) up by single digits in the low 40′s.

AR-Sen: As public polls began to show increasingly large leads for Sen. Mark Pryor (D) (with an NBC poll showing him up by a surprising 11 points Monday), the silence out of Tom Cotton’s camp had been alarming. Cotton finally put out an internal yesterday, showing him up 42-40 on Pryor, but we’ll need to see more than that to be convinced that the bad trends here have been reversed.

HI-Sen: It’s a busy PPP day, as they also did a poll for a Brian Schatz-aligned PAC that has the appointed Senator up 49-34 on Colleen Hanabusa in the Dem primary. Schatz has had the airwaves to himself thus far and the poll is an internal, but that’s still a much larger than expected lead for him. Is the “Japanese woman effect” at play, or is Hanabusa (who has two losses and two unimpressive wins on her resume) perhaps not as good a candidate as we thought?

IA-Sen: Joni Ernst (R) picked up a couple more big national endorsements, from the Chamber of Commerce and NRA (both of which have the ability to spend big money on the race if they so desire). This primary has become a two-horse race between Ernst and the more moderate Mark Jacobs, who has fewer endorsements but a lot more money.

NC-Sen: Bev Perdue Sean Haugh is SURGING! The little-known Libertarian nominee takes a convenient 11% in PPP’s post primary look at the race, which also has Kay Hagan (D) at 38 and Thom Tillis (R) at 36. Haugh’s ginormous and completely authentic bloc of supports would break 2:1 for Tillis if he weren’t on the ballot…..
