Two weeks ago, AmEx and Starwood announced their annual limited time offer sign-up bonus. Like past years, approved applicants of the SPG AmEx and SPG Business AmEx will receive 35,000 points instead of the normal 25,000 through April 5th. The bonus for both these cards has never gone above this level. Better yet, with the option to now transfer SPG points to Marriott at a 3:1 ratio ,this is the equivalent of a 105,000 point Marriott Rewards offer. SPG is currently slated to stick around until at least 2018, but if changes are made in early 2018, this could be one of the last increased bonuses for the card…though I see them doing this again once we do receive a new Marriott / SPG / Ritz loyalty program. These offers are unfortunately now once per lifetime, though if you’ve had the personal, you can still get approved for the business edition and vice versa. If you’re not sure whether you’ve had the card, use the chat function on AmEx.com to ask the representative. They are able to view your entire card history. Also, if you’ve had the business card before, you can get it again for another business (different EIN or TIN)!
