EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2016) – Pocono Medical Center celebrated the grand re-opening of its Mattioli Emergency Center with hundreds of community members Thursday morning near the new entrance of the Mattioli Emergency Center on East Brown Street in East Stroudsburg.

“Today’s grand re-opening of the Mattioli Emergency Center signifies a re-dedication of what Pocono Medical Center’s emergency care is truly focused on medical and clinical excellence with a positive patient experience,” said Jeff Snyder, President and CEO of Pocono Medical Center.

Pocono Medical Center devoted $3.8 million to modernize its ER with one purpose in mind – to significantly improve its patient’s experience

“PMC’s continued focus on recruiting and retaining the best physicians and nurses provides the community with a clear advantage in quality of care. With a medical staff of 300 members strong, dedicated to the Pocono region, PMC is able to provide comprehensive ER coverage with more physicians than others may have on their entire medical staff. That’s a real and clear difference,” said Snyder.

Pocono Medical Center’s Mattioli Emergency Department underwent a year-long renovation to create a dedicated pediatric care space, a beautifully renovated reception area with amenities ranging from comfortable seating to Wi-Fi access, and a 30% increase in patient care areas so patients can see our doctors and nurses sooner.

“Our emergency department is blessed with an entire team of professionals with vast experience and knowledge willing to deliver compassionate emergency care,” said Dr. Leroy Nickles, Medical Director of Pocono Medical Center’s Mattioli Emergency Department.

This project not only enhanced the infrastructure and aesthetics, but better defined our mission of providing excellent care, close to home. “As the area’s only Trauma-certified Emergency Room, PMC’s 24/7/365 access to critical specialists far exceed the capabilities and quality of other healthcare providers in the region. PMC’s mission ‘to provide excellent care close to home’ is most evident in its Emergency Room, where the level of medical and clinical excellence is clearly distinguished of that of a triage and transfer center.” said Snyder.

With a team of high-quality physicians and providers, the Mattioli Emergency Center offers its community access to the area’s only Level III Trauma Center backed by a Joint Commission Certified Primary Stroke Center with telestroke capabilities, a nationally-recognized cardiac program with on-site cardiothoracic surgeon, Board-certified pediatric specialists, and 24/7 orthopedic care to ensure your best overall health, all in one location. “With the high level of quality care we have accessible in our one location – from cardiac, to stroke, to pediatrics – I am confident that no patient should seek care anywhere else but at the Mattioli Emergency Department,” said Dr. Nickles.

Thursday’s ceremony consisted of a powerful presentation followed by remarks featuring Jeff Snyder, President and CEO of Pocono Medical Center, a group of our dedicated, world-class physicians, and a special award acknowledgment followed by an honorary guest singer.
