We are seeking candidates for the position of Cake Boss Café General Manager located in New York City.

Position Summary:

About Cake Boss Cafe:

Cake Boss Café is a bakery in Times Square and an extension of authentic Carlo’s Bakery pastries in New Jersey from the famed Cake Boss TV show by TLC and Discovery Communications. Cake Boss Café offers fans the opportunity to taste a piece of the show. Cake Boss Café offers baked goods delivered daily from Carlo’s Bakery, such as cannolis, lobster tails, cupcakes, fondant cakes, Italian cookies and more. There is on-site finishing and decorating, coffee, tea, sodas, juice and bottled water as well as Cake Boss branded merchandise – including DVDs, books, apparel and bobbleheads. The space offers take away for guests that want to grab and go and table seating for those that want to stay in addition to catering services.

Summary of Position:

Responsible for all aspects of management, leadership, general facility and overall sales and expenses, the General Manager of the Cake Boss Café will oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing and training necessary to achieve stated objectives in customer service, employee satisfaction, sales, expenses, food, beverage, cleanliness and sanitation. Cake Boss Cafe requires a talented and dynamic General Manager or Multi-Unit Manager who is able to open and run our flagship operation. Successful candidates will be able to articulate why they feel they are qualified to lead this flagship operation. We are looking for one exceptional individual.

Responsibilities:

General Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Operate all aspects of Cake Boss Cafe on a daily basis with efficiency, respect, friendliness, professionalism, teamwork, integrity, knowledge, patience, awareness, compassion and courtesy.

2. Understand all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs as outlined in the Cake Boss Cafe employee manual

3. Ensure that all guests feel welcome and are given friendly, responsive, efficient and courteous service at all time

4. Provide all food and beverage information to employees and guests and answer any questions with enthusiasm

5. Anticipate guests and restaurant needs by constantly evaluating the Cake Boss Cafe environment

6. Maintain a pristine aesthetic of the Cake Boss Cafe including the entire kitchen and back of house area that will project a constant positive image

7. Strive for excellence in creating a positive environment for all staff and exceeding guest expectations.

8. A yearly financial bonus will be given if budget goals are achieved

Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Financial Oversight

1. Monitor and adhere to the budget for anticipated sales, labor cost, serviceware and food and beverage cost as well as overall expenses related to P&L

2. Manage supply inventory and expense budget

3. Maintain POS system to meet management expectations and provide daily reporting

4. Oversee and approve all MOS, damage, and comp entries

5. Monitor daily end of day procedures and reconcile cash and credit card transactions

6. Oversee business bank account and armor car service ensuring daily deposits are made correctly resolving and discrepancies

7. Maintain adequate change and petty cash in store safe

Facilities Management

1. Act as the day to day contact with the Port Authority on any and all landlord and tenant issues

2. Ensure the cafe is compliant with all lease requirements such as snow removal, line queue, hours of operation, etc

3. Provide revenue reports to landlord as requested

4. Partner with internal resources to apply, obtain, and maintain all necessary licenses and permits for operation

5. Ensure that the cafe meets all health code standards and is in fully operational working order at all times

6. Ensure proper signage for employees and guests is visible and clearly communicates all laws, health code requirements and safety warnings

Vendor Management

1. Establish and manage designated non-food service and supplies vendors to ensure timely deliveries, sufficient stock, best pricing and invoice payment

2. Review merchandise inventory levels placing orders as necessary and making suggestions for new products and designs based on sales history

3. Act as the main point of contact for all other 3rd party vendors with a contract or service relationship with the cafe

Marketing

1. Work closely with entire management team to continue to develop Cake Boss Cafe as the live extension of Cake Boss TV show

2. Oversee and collaborate with the management team on new marketing programs that are introduced to into Cake Boss Café

3. Engage with local businesses, councils, and tourism boards to create awareness and promotion opportunities for the café

4. Seek grass roots tactics to attract the tourist and local communities to the cafe

5. Shop similar local businesses ensuring the cafe is competitive

6. Partner with corporate marketing managers on campaign and promotion effectiveness and suggest new innovative ideas

7. Plan and oversee events as outlined in the annual marketing and promotions calendar

PR and Consumer Outreach

1. Partner with corporate communications on any opportunities for promotion via local or tourist focused media

2. Manage the relationship with community based blog and review sites such as Yelp and Trip Advisor to ensure that all post are accurate addressing any customer complaints and concerns as appropriate

3. Provide in store guest relations as necessary

4. Respond to all customer inquiries within 24 hours and resolve to satisfaction

5. Oversee any VIP or corporate visits ensuring a positive guest experience

6. Maintain the brand standards for all cafe touch points

Staff Operations

1. Participate in recruiting, hiring, developing, and reviewing all staff positions for the cafe including but not limited to bakers, finishers, counter service, cashiers, and cleaning staff

2. Provide opportunities for staff to learn, grow, and develop their abilities

3. Conduct shift meetings with staff as necessary. Participate in weekly meetings with the management team to review operations, necessary improvements and review staff and guest concerns.

4. Schedule all employees, make employment and termination decisions for staff consistent with the Cake Boss Cafe policies.

5. Coordinate operations between front of house staff and kitchen staff to ensure for efficient operations and seamless service to the guests

6. Train all staff on job function and CBC policy and procedures

7. Enforce both Discovery Retail Cafes and 42nd Street Management handbooks

8. Ensure all staff has legal right to work in the United States and adheres with all laws and ordinances involving food service in NYC

9. Ensure designated staff has current food service license issued from NYC

10. Ensure all staff is acting in accordance with all local laws and procedures for safe food handling

11. Create and manage employee schedule to meet business needs not exceeding the maximum hours approved for that time period

12. Enforce all dress code requirements as set forth by Discovery Retail Cafe and landlord

13. Open and close the cafe for business at hours designated by Discovery Retail Cafe

14. Discipline employees as needed

Operations

1. Responsible for all ordering of pastries, beverage and paper supplies, as well as necessary kitchen equipment supplies and service ware to operate the Cake Boss Cafe on a daily basis

2. Adhere to all cash handling, cash management and cash register policies set forth by the established operational policies and procedures and ensure proper cash management practices are followed

3. Continue to develop and systemize protocol for the Cake Boss Cafe Point of Sale ordering system for the kiosk and dine in experience

4. Manage queue line as outlined by Discovery Retail Cafe and the landlord

5. Keep the cafe clean and orderly throughout the day including but not limited to trash removal, wipe down of tables and chair in between customers, cleaning of glass and metal surfaces, wiping up spills, mopping floors and washing trays

6. Stocking of front of house with pastries, merchandise and supplies

Requirements:

*Must have a minimum of 7 years of restaurant management experience and 3 years of experience as a General Manager

*Excellent Command of Restaurant Financial Profit and Loss Statements

*Possess excellent basic math skills, ability to operate a POS system and Microsoft office

*Must be impeccably groomed, maintain good hygiene, good posture and must display the image set forth by the Cake Boss Cafe

*Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours)

*Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds

*Must have the stamina to work 60 hours per week

*Must have the legal right to work in the United States.
