Gourmondo Catering is recruiting an experienced Catering Director.
This position is responsible for the management and oversight of the Event Catering Division which includes:
• Direct management of the Event Catering Staff (Sr. Event Coordinator, Event Coordinator)
• Recruitment, interviewing, hiring and training of offsite event staff
• Oversight of event staffing, shift management, staff payroll, performance evaluations, tip pool
• Ensuring the compliance of staff in regards to: safety and hygiene regulations, Gourmondo staff policies and standards, food handlers permits and Class 12 liquor certifications
• Development of internal forms, policies and procedures
• Analyzing month/year data to forecast goals and the accomplishment of set sales targets
• Negotiating contracts with clients and organizing the execution of the contracts to the clients’ satisfaction.
• Processing of client deposits and invoices
• Menu management: custom menu coordination with client and chef, menu trends, development and system maintenance
• Assistance with planning and promoting the company’s involvement in tradeshows, tastings
• Vendor relations: custom food providers, rental companies, florists, valet services, etc. Attending shows to evaluate alternative vendors and research trends
• Venue relations: maintaining relationships with key venues, obtaining preferred status at selected venues, research new venue prospects, creating new relationships
• Assistance with everyday office administration and customer service
• Maintaining rental and beverage inventory and ensuring new supply if necessary, specialty orders/requests
• Ensuring an open line of communication as a kitchen/office liaison
• Working events when necessary
Requirements:
• A college degree is preferred
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in event planning and catering including management of multiple departments and staff
• Must possess proficient computer skills.
• Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with senior management and clients as well as staff members and vendors.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills; ability to work independently and complete projects in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment in a professional manner.
• Experience in managing multiple projects/tasks and keeping pace with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines; ability to problem-solve, take initiative, set priorities and exercise good judgment.
• Attention to accuracy, detail and thoroughness in completing assigned duties and responsibilities.
• Cubical/Open workspace environment which may result in additional or higher levels of noise and visual distractions – ability to concentrate is a must.
• Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as necessary, on short or limited notice.
• Must have regular and reliable transportation for local travel and willing to travel when necessary.
