Fearless, a new, quick service coffee & food retail shop in San Francisco’s SOMA district, is seeking a general manager in anticipation of its impending late March opening. This will be an opportunity to work with a respected Bay Area chef & restaurateur in the context of an expanding company, and to help us achieve our goal of cultivating an efficient and successful business that serves the needs of the neighborhood! Our focus is on fast and courteous service of great coffee & fresh pre-packaged food made from high quality local products and produce. This will be a retail environment with excellent products and exceptional service.
Salary will be based on experience.

Desired experience & personal qualities:
4 years management experience in a fast-paced coffee shop or retail environment. Corporate experience preferred.
Thorough understanding of retail and coffee shop operations.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Must be able to establish & maintain great relationships with daily customers & catering clients alike.
A strong leader with the ability to manage calmly and effectively during busy periods.
Dependable, consistent, thorough and detail-oriented.

In the short term, you will be responsible for:
Selecting, hiring & cultivating a team of dedicated service personnel. This will include determining staffing requirements, seeking & soliciting recruits, conducting interviews, and making hiring & scheduling decisions.
Working with existing management to develop service standards & procedure, along with plans to implement them. Training staff to meet these standards consistently.
Preparing all necessary management & training tools for yourself & your team.
Communicating on progress towards business & financial goals with existing management on an ongoing basis.

Ongoing responsibilities will include all of the above, in addition to:
Maintaining high standards for the condition and appearance of the store, its equipment and employees.
Ensuring that equipment is maintained & used in a manner conducive with employee safety.
Delegating cleaning, stocking & maintenance responsibilities to your team in a clear and consistent manner, and holding them accountable for maintaining agreed-upon standards.
Ordering supplies and equipment necessary for store operation, and conducting or contracting repairs as necessary.
Seeking opportunities to increase sales and profitability.
Being accountable for managing costs and inventory.
Maintaining accurate banking & finance information and making cash deposits.
Helping baristas and cashiers to work as an efficient team by monitoring stock levels, customer flow, and employee performance, and making adjustments as necessary.
Inspiring staff to take pride in outstanding customer service. Setting goals for your team and motivating them to fulfill those goals. Developing a positive work environment and a culture of service excellence.
Creating a welcoming and responsive environment for guests at all times, regardless of managerial oversight.
Creating employee schedules in a consistent and timely manner, including scheduling time off.
Ensuring that all scheduling & breaks, as well as other employee policies, adhere to government requirements.
Supplementing structured training of employees with regular feedback and employee reviews.
Responding to personnel issues constructively and consistently, including making and following through with disciplinary decisions. Prioritizing the store’s operational success when making hiring, firing, and disciplinary decisions.
