I don’t very often buy clothes for my husband. That’s not because I don’t feel comfortable choosing clothes for him, in fact I think I know his style quite well. The reason I don’t buy clothes for him is because I just never go clothes shopping – I can’t remember the last time I bought clothes for myself either.
A good online store like House of Fraser that sells men’s clothing is really useful for me. I can see instantly the sort of things that my husband will like and I can order them online, safe in the knowledge that they’ll arrive within a couple of days.
This Father’s Day will be a relatively relaxed affair around here for various reasons, so a nice T-shirt will be perfect for the day. My choice from the House of Fraser website would be this Howick Regent Stripe Pique Polo Shirt.
I will be interested to see whether my other half would have chosen this for himself. What I like about it is that even if it wouldn’t be his first choice, it’s quite neutral and it’s something he’d definitely wear – and I think most men would.
This would be paired with quite a smart pair of jeans and a pair of shoes from his rather extensive shoe collection. I wouldn’t dream of buying shoes for him, he is far too fussy about those. Instead, I’d be looking to some nice accessories like this Armani Jeans Belt and a nice pair of sunglasses.
I think it’s important that I explain how much of a big deal it would be for me to buy sunglasses for my husband. That’s not because I couldn’t choose something that he would like, but because he has the most horrible habit of losing them. The last time he bought a pair of expensive sunglasses, we were in New Zealand.
We had both been looking at sunglasses for a few days, and one afternoon, my husband finally settled on a pair that he really loved. They cost around £200 and he was really proud of them. That night, we went out to a bar and had a few games of pool and (quite) a few pints of our favourite Monteith’s beer.
The next morning, we got up ready to hike up a glassier. Cue frantic scrabbling around – no sunglasses. We retraced our steps, asked in the bar and our hotel but to no avail. We never saw them again. Since then, my husband hasn’t had a decent pair of sunglasses and I suppose it might be time to forgive and forget and treat him to these Prada Aviator Sunglasses.
