Are you a coach, an educator, or a professional who interacts in online spaces?

Are you tired of dealing with weaknesses, deficits, and problems that wear you out and drain your energy?

Do you dream of positive, generative conversations that lead to the type of changes you’d like to see in the folks you interact with?

Are you imagining discussions filled with aspirations and possibilities, focused on strength? Discussions that engender and enable excellence?

Are you wondering how to grow meaningful relationships in online spaces?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then the Connected Coaching course is right for you.

In this 8-week, instructor-led course, we’ll journey deep into appreciative inquiry and uncover the potential of a strength-based inquiry approach for enabling growth and change.

Coaching — like learning — is moving to online spaces.

And it is there that coaches become social artists, enabling conditions for collegial conversations, deep learning, more accomplished practice, and subsequent improved learning for students.

The Connected Coaching eCourse will prepare you to coach in online spaces, to leverage the affordances of technology for coaching from a unique strength based inquiry lens. Through this 8-week eCourse you will explore:

Foundations and elements of the Connected Coaching model

An appreciative inquiry strength based approach to coaching

Protocols and activities for use by connected coaches

Ways to leverage web 2.0 tools for coaching in online environments

This course lasts 8 weeks.

During this learning journey, we’ll engage in asynchronous discussions and activities. We’ll also meet weekly on Wednesday evenings for webinars, uncovering and discovering avenues to better facilitation and communication.

Each week features:

Guidance from two seasoned educators and connected coaches — Amy Musone and Jennifer Bloomingdale

Resources and activities that become the foundation for interactive conversations in the weekly webinar.

Asynchronous threaded discussions and activities in a private online space that promote collaboration and deepen understanding.

What they’re saying…

“Sign up for a life changing experience”

Lani is a fantastic teacher and role model. If you take this course from her, you would be learning from the best! She is able to meet all learners at whatever level of coaching experience they have had prior and is able to effectively balance challenge with encouragement. She is also excellent at building a strong sense of community (though to be fair, you must have co-learners who have signed up that are eager to do this too) and able to bring even the most hesitant individuals out of their shells.

I have taken several other coaching courses before and this model aligns with how I view teaching and learning, and has made me a stronger coach in my daily work. If you are interested in learning, growing and helping others be the best they can be, you must take this course.

“Powerful learning!”

What an amazing and powerful learning experience! I had worked as an Academic Coach and wanted to explore and discover the differences in coaching online. I learned that and much, much more, wishing I had taken this course before I ever started coaching.

We know how we hate being told what to do, following mandates (or at least I do) because we want to do the best and be the best we can for our students. Through Connected Coaching I experienced a new path, one that honors each individual and celebrates their own aspirations. What could be better than having someone believe in you, support you in your thinking and inquiry, and help you build on your strengths?

“All about trust”

The Connected Coaching eCourse is all about trust, building from the strengths you already possess and being willing to look at what’s “messy” so that you’re able to achieve your goals – whatever they might be.

I was most interested in becoming a better listener, asking not only the right questions but better questions and fine tuning my skills as one who empowers others and brings out the best in them – just like Hellman’s on a sandwich. I have made progress but it’s a process much like Design Thinking and Action Research. You plan, act, reflect and plan some more! You can always get better at whatever it is you love to do!

What they’re saying…

“My one word for this experience is PROFOUND”

Lani Ritter-Hall and Amy Musone have been truly amazing facilitators of our learning and at modeling coaching techniques and dispositions. I had been observing and reading about coaching and leading change for a little while now, but this course and the connected coaching model that Lani has created really speaks to me in terms of who I am and how I view the world.

As well as being a rich learning experience full of strategies and information, this course has validated how I view learning, supporting others, valuing contributions and walking with others (educators) to help them set their own path rather than me telling them what to do. The group that have done the course with me have been a wonderful community. I’m amazed by the openness, depth of reflection and comfort to share of self and journey, and to be challenged in a that has been part of our interactions. I’ve been challenged to take my thinking much deeper than I expected and I don’t think that this would have been possible without such a group… My one word for this experience is PROFOUND.

“Helping others recognize strengths”

I’ve known for a long time about the value of careful listening and paraphrasing, but I learned to focus on the positive perspective in the paraphrasing–for the purpose of helping the other recognize strengths they might not see for themselves–and then to build on those strengths moving forward. This is different from merely repeating back what was said and then moving ahead to “fix the problem.” In addition, the questions that I pose also help to change the perspective of the other person by seeking out the things that worked and that brought energy and enjoyment. Again, the purpose is to help the other person find the positive aspects and strengths in themselves on which they can build.

Educator, Henrico County Public Schools

“Very powerful for me.”

As I reflected back on my learning contract I was so focused on the technology piece but what I really got out of this course was a deep understanding of what coaching is and how stories, positive inquiry and coming from strength can really affect change. Very powerful for me.
