Level: Manager

Responsible for a team of project resources, which may be local, remote and offshore. Provides oversight, guidance, and technical expertise for the team, and acts as a senior resource for complex projects and initiatives. Ensures projects adhere to standard guidelines, timelines are met, and that the projects produce a supportable solution. Handles escalations concerning resource contentions, allocations, deadlines or deviations from standards. Reports resource utilization and improves the efficiency of the project delivery procedures. Mentors and develops subordinates in technical and project delivery areas. Recommends staffing adjustments as needed

Provides main expertise in AIX, and manage resources proficient in other UNIX OS

Provides secondary expertise in HP-UX, Linux and/or Solaris

Secondary duties to include:

24/7 oncall rotation

Incident response to production outages

Responsibilities:

- Manage up to 8 project resources

- Hands on unix / linux administration at an advanced level

- Allocate and track resources to projects

- Maintain project related documents and procedures, updating as needed to maintain the relevancy of the instructions

- Acts as a change management coordinator, reviewing changes to be processed to ensure technical correctness

- Designs and implements solutions for project technical issues within company standards and industry best practices

- Maximize the effectiveness of project resources by streamlining processes, and providing step by step and

- repeatable processes to follow

- Track and prioritize activities for maximum operational efficiency

- Continuously improve the performance of the teams key metrics

- Monitor, and manage outsourced partner relationships

- Liaison with project, partner, vendor, and other production support teams for coordination of efforts

- Assists in other duties as needed and directed

Secondary duties to include:

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:

- 3 years of experience in hands on Unix / Linux support

- 2 years of experience in people management

- Advanced knowledge of AIX OS and IBM Hardware, able to support

- LPARs

- AIX Clustering

- SAN Storage

- Oracle on AIX

- Mentoring and evaluating subordinates

- 3 years of experience in large (1000+) server enterprises

- Disaster Recovery planning and exercises

Preferred Qualifications:

- Bachelors Degree in Science, Engineering or Computers

- 2 years of experience in Managing an IT operations environment

- 5 years of experience in operations support

- 2 years of experience in managing technical resources

- 3 years of managing project delivery

- PMP Certificate

- AIX Certifications
- Secondary knowledge & certification in Linux, HP-UX, Solaris, VMware

- Coding / Scripting Languages (Perl, Python, Shell, Tcl/Tk)

- CCNA
