I'm pretty up on things, and to discover Fat Sandwiches only a few days ago, just blows my mind. Though they're not available locally (as far as I know) Fat Sandwiches have been a part of Rutger's University culture since 1979. Considering I miss my Belgian fries (which they place on everything) this seemed like a sure fire win on our trip.
So wait, wait, wait... let me explain.

Take a sub sandwich, add unusual toppings like chicken fingers, cheese-sticks, and french fries and you have a Fat Sandwich perfect for curing the late night hangover. Now remind me why we don't have one at UNCG?
The most famous of these sandwiches is the Fat Darrell, that includes the above toppings plus marinara, but they come in tons of combinations.

Since I knew we couldn't make it to Rutgers, we found one of the many nation-wide copycats In West Virginia at SandwichU near the campus of WVU (who knew you could have a monorail on campus?). I ordered a Fat Bastard, and Shannon order a Huggie. Big sandwiches, good flavors, but definately not like the Le Americain, though it is offered at Rutgers and SandwichU as a Fat Cat but you'd have to add on the lettuce, tomato, onions and frites to make it truly epic.

While these aren't going to win you any awards from your cardiologists, college students might get away with a few Fat Sandwiches before they collapse.
