Have you ever composed an Email or text message on your mobile device, only to realize that you need to perform a quick fact check? There’s no need to feel ashamed because after all, it’s better to be safe than sorry. However, it’s still rather inconvenient to switch out of your current application, launch your web browser, and manually search for the answer. Luckily, there’s now a better way.

XDA Forum Member dasi1241 recently unveiled his new application Search Now. As its name alludes, this application allows you to search from anywhere on your device, without having to launch a separate application. This works because Search Now places an ever-present icon on top of your screen. Tapping the icon allows you to search while still remaining in your current app. You can also drag the icon to move it and long press the icon to hide it.

In addition to being convenient due to its floating capabilities, Search Now is also quite powerful. It is currently able to search from your contacts, the Internet (with a user-specified search engine), your installed apps, your history, your music, and your calendar entries. Essentially, Search Now can search from anywhere important. The app also offers web suggestions while you’re typing, as well as a handy search widget for your home screen, and an upcoming version will bring Voice Search and Google Translate capabilities.

If you’ve been looking for a handy, floating app to search from any screen on your device, head over to the application thread and give Search Now a try.
