pir8crabs:

Hi, Maccadam tag. It’s me again. Last time I was in here, I posted a fairly sizeable list of first world war altmodes. I contemplated doing an interwar (20s-30s) list before this one, but fuck it I’m getting right to the good stuff.

I fucking love the second world war for the tech and equipment. I also fucking love altmode speculation and alternate altmodes. I love altmode stuff more than I actually like plot or characterization or relationships. So this is me combining them. This is my big list of my ideas for second world war altmodes. I’m going to be ignoring that one G.I. Joe crossover comic for this, and starting completely from scratch.

Of course, I do not claim to be a vehicle expert. Perhaps there are altmodes of the era more fitting for some of these nerds than the ones I use, because I’m just not aware of. If you think so, feel free to chime in.

AUTOBOTS

Optimus Prime: Mack Model EH. The best part about this is that we’ve seen a transformation sequence of him as a similar truck before.

Ultra Magnus: Another Mack Model EH, just like Optimus. His trailer, though.. I looked up car carrier trailers in the 1940s and found this. No idea what you’d call it to Google it for more references, and I think it MIGHT be a post-war thing, but it’s the best I got.

Ironhide: Studebaker US6, since there weren’t any vans at the time and because I like Ironhide as a truck

Ratchet: Dodge WC54

Prowl: Ford Model A with police markings

Bumblebee: Volkswagen Beetle, since production of those first started in 1938

Cliffjumper: Volkswagen Kubelwagen

Hound: Willys MB

Arcee: Going with the thing of her being a motorcycle in quite a few mainstream works these days, Harley-Davidson XA

Nautica (Because hell fucking yes, submarine femme): CB-class midget submarine

Windblade: P-61 Black Widow

Wheeljack: Daimler New Fifteen

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker: Bentley 4.5 Litre

Huffer: His G1 toy is just a generic ‘American truck’ and gives nothing to go on, so I took his Timelines altmode as a starting point and have decided on a Volvo Sharpnose

Pipes: Given that Pipes was originally an extensive retool of Huffer, I’m giving him a similar altmode. Volvo Roundnose

Powerglide: Ilyushin IL-2

Seaspray: No hovercrafts like he typically turns into, so I’m going with the closest I can get: The Toyota Su-Ki amphibious truck

Warpath: M3 Stuart, sort of a direct ancestor of his original M55 Sheridan altmode

Bulkhead: GMC Otter

AERIALBOTS

Silverbolt: Vickers Warwick

Air Raid: Curtiss  P-40 Warhawk

Fireflight: FFVS J22

Skydive: Hawker Typhoon

Slingshot: Macchi C.202

PROTECTOBOTS

Hot Spot: 1937 Seagrave fire truck

Streetwise: Chrysler Airflow with police markings

Blades: Sikorsky H-5

Groove: 1939 Indian Dispatch Tow

First Aid: 1940 ford Sedan delivery marked up as an ambulance

DECEPTICONS

Megatron: His original Walther P38 form fits the era, or if you wanna not have size-changing and go with him being a tank like he tends to end up being then a Tiger 1

Soundwave: Cassette players aren’t available here so I’m gonna do what I did last time and make him an armored vehicle. Steyr ADGZ

Shockwave: I made him a naval cruiser last time because I liked his altmode in Hearts of Steel and I really like boatformers so I’m doing it again.  Leipzig-class light cruiser

Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, Slipstream, Acid Storm, Ramjet, Dirge, Thrust, etc etc etc: Focke-Wulf Fw 190

Blitzwing: Mitsubishi A5M / Type 95 Ha-Go

Turmoil: (Since I like his arm-cannon): Sturmtiger

Lugnut: (Since his Animated and TF2010 altmode was based on a combo of features from second world war bombers anyway): Boeing B-17

COMBATICONS

Onslaught: The G1 cartoon had him originally installed into a half-track, so sd.kfz. 9, but replace the crane with an 8.cm Flak cannon

Swindle: Don’t wanna re-use the Willys MB, so Type 95 Reconnaissance/Scout car

Brawl: Going with the original second world war body from the cartoon, M4 Sherman

Blast Off: Shuttles ain’t available, and the original heavy bomber-looking altmode he had in the cartoon bugs me for some reason, so Dornier Do 215

Vortex: Flettner Fl 282 Though that open cockpit might be a problem as far as transforming goes. Perhaps a fictional variation with a closed cockpit?

CONSTRUCTICONS (These assholes gave me so much fucking trouble, god damn it)

Bonecrusher: Komatsu G40

Scrapper: As hard as I looked, I couldn’t find any existence of front-end loaders/payloaders, or even backhoes in the era. So fuck it, I’m saying the team has two bulldozers on it. Caterpillar D7

Scavenger: Though they existed at the time, I could not find a specific model name for shovels similar to his original altmode. Therefore I’m going a different route, giving him something similar to his Classics toy since I can provide a name for something like that. Osgood 200

Mixmaster: No cement trucks that I can find either, so I’m fudging things a little bit. Fictional cement truck based on the Opel Blitz

Hook: Brockway 666 crane truck

Long Haul: Dump truck based on the GMC CCKW

And that’s it!! That’s the big list of all the second world war altmodes for characters I’d personally love to see. As with the last one, feel free to add in other characters and their altmodes that you’d like, debate me on the altmodes I’ve chosen, or whatever!
