Central Washington University’s homecoming, a week of special events and sports, kicks off today and continues through the week leading up to Saturday’s football game against Humboldt State University. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium.

Some of the highlights include the newly named Wildcat Way dedication on Friday, a homecoming dance, a 5K Wildcat color run and a performance by comedian Iliza Shelsinger. Shelsinger is a “Last Comic Standing” winner who is coming off her latest popular releases of “War Paint” and “Freezing Hot” comedy specials.

Today

Spirit door/hall decorating contest entries due by 5 p.m.Movie Madness, “Friday Night Lights”: 7 and 9:30 p.m., Student Union and Recreation Center Theatre. Free for CWU students with ID, $3 general admission.

Tuesday

Mr. and Ms. Central Pageant: 7:30 p.m. SURC Ballroom. Talent-show winners from each residence hall battle for the coveted Mr. or Ms. Central mantle in this homecoming week tradition, free.

Wednesday

Spirit door/hall decorating contest judging. Judges will make rounds to determine winning entries in two categories for the Spirit Splash Cup.Wellington’s Wildfire: 7-9 p.m., Alder Street Recreation Complex. Gather around the bonfire to celebrate homecoming with Challenge Course activities, games and contests. 88.1 The ‘Burg will provide music and CWU athletes, cheerleaders and the band will be on hand. Free to CWU students.

Friday

Touch a Truck contest: 10 a.m. to midnight, SURC East Patio. Representatives from recognized CWU clubs will compete to win up to $1,000 for their club. One hand must stay on the “General” firetruck, and various other rules apply. The last one standing and touching the truck wins. There will be first, second and third place awards.Clubs Fair: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., SURC 137 and first floor. Learn how to get involved with clubs on campus.Wildcat Way dedication: 4 p.m., Wildcat Way (formerly D Street). The ceremony will begin in front of Shaw-Smyser Hall to celebrate the adoption of the new name. The Associated Students of Central Washington University will officiate the occasion, and there will be a community photo.Distinguished Alumni Banquet: 5:30 p.m., Sue Lombard Hall, learn more or register at www.cwu.edu/alumni.Homecoming Dance, 9 p.m. to midnight, SURC ballroom, admission $5 at www.cwu.edu/tickets or $10 at the door. RHA is putting on the Hollywood-themed event. The first 100 people to hit the red carpet will get a prize, and there will be refreshments, a selfie booth and music by The ‘Burg.

Saturday

Wildcat Color 5K run: 9 a.m. registration, 10 a.m. race start time, Outdoor Pursuits and Rentals patio, $20 registration. Help make a difference by helping the Ellensburg Downtown Association prepare the 65 downtown flower pots for winter.Wildcat Statue dedication: 11 a.m., SURC East Patio, free. President James Gaudino and ASCWU president Ryan Anderson will preside over the dedication, which includes free food and music.
