The year 2016 was an interesting year for Indian television. Some great shows are having great runs with amazing TRPS, while some are not meeting the expectations of the viewers.
This year, there were few shows which started off with a bang and created a lot of buzz amongst TV lovers. But after it started airing, couldn't grab many eyeballs from people like expected. While some are still struggling to gain viewers' attention and love, some bid adieu with just few months of its telecast.
Let's take a look at some of the shows that made its debut this year but waved goodbye in a jiffy
Comedy Nights Live/Comedy Nights Bachao
Hosts Krushna Abhishek and Bharti Singh started off this by preceding Comedy Nights with Kapil. It was aired on January 31, 2016 and went off on August 21, 2016 owing to the low TRPs. Despite big Bollywood celebrities promoting their film on the show, it failed to impress the viewers.
Dahleez
Dahleez is a TV serial which was aired on Star Plus. It starred Harshad Arora and Tridha Choudhury in the leads. The show was started on March 14, 2016 and took off air on June 26, 2016. Dahleez wrapped up in 106 episodes.
Ek Duje Ke Vaaste
The end of this show shocked many viewers as it was among few of the favourites which was aired on TV. Starring Nikita Dutta and Namik Paul, the show started on February 29, 2016 and went on until October 7, 2016. Due to Nikita's deteriorating health, the makers decided to end the show and not shifting their focus on other characters. This is one of the shows, which despite having high TRPs had to go off air.
Humko Tumse Ho Gaya Hai Pyaar Kya Karein
Ishani Sharma and Varun Toorkey starrer, this Star Plus show had a very short run of about five months. It started on June 6, 2016 till October 7, 2016. The viewers couldn't connect to the show despite the big hype it created.
Meri Awaaz Hi Pehchaan Hai
Touted as Amrita Rao's big television debut, the show couldn't generate much interest among the viewers. The daily soap was reportedly based on Mangeshkar sisters, Lata and Asha's lives. It was based on sibling rivalry but couldn't create much buzz amongst the viewers despite a thumbs up from the critics. The show was started on March 7, 2016 and went off air on July 15, 2016.
Rishton Ka Saudagar – Baazigar
Vatsal Seth and Ishita Dutta, who played the lead role in this show was not well received by the audience. The big-budgeted show made its debut on June 20, 2016 and said goodbye on September 23, 2016. It was an abrupt end for the show.
Silsila Pyaar Ka
This Star Plus show was aired on January 4, 2016, and starred Abhay Vakil and Chhavi Pandey along with Shilpa Shirodkar. The curtains were rolled down on June 5, 2016.
Tamanna
Tamanna was aired on Star Plus and starred Anuja Sathe and Deepak Wadhwa in the leads. It saw the broad daylight for about four months as it went on air on February 1, 2016 to June 26, 2017.
Woh Teri Bhabhi Hai Pagle
This sitcom starred Krishna Gokani and Ali Asgar in the leads and was aired on Sab TV. The show was a comic take on a doctor and patient's relationship. The show was aired on January 18, 2016 to June 6, 2016.
Bade Bhaiyya Ki Dulhania
This Sony TV show had Priyanshu Jora and Namita Dubey in the leads. With lot of buzz created by the promos, the show failed to grab many eyeballs from the viewers. It started on July 18, 2016 and went off air on October 7, 2016.
And other shows which bid adieu this year are D4 - Get Up and Dance, Dr. Madhumati On Duty, Girls on Top, Kahani Hamari... Dil Dosti Deewanepan Ki, Mastaangi - One Love Story Two Lifetimes, SauBhagyalaxmi, Tere Bin, Vishkanya Ek Anokhi Prem Kahani, Bhakton Ki Bhakti Mein Shakti.
Reality and talk shows like Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi (season 7), So You Think You Can Dance (Indian TV series), Super Dancer, The Voice India Kids, Yaaron Ki Baraat were aired and completed their season this year.
Long running shows like Balika Vadhu, Diya Aur Baati Hum and Qubool Hai completed their long run on Indian television this year.
