First ‘Products Popping Up’ blog post for 2015 and it’s a good one! I don’t have a heck of a lot of products to show you because December and January are usually very quiet months for this sort of thing BUT I do have some interesting new launches to show you. Let’s not waste time with me going on about how I can’t believe it’s 2015, but believe me when I say, I am SO HAPPY 2014 ended – if you would like to read why…then take a look at this blog post.
Grab an ice lolly (Woolworths sell the most amazing Marks & Spencer Pineapple, Coconut & Lime popsicle lollies) or an iced tea because it’s hella hot in my neck of the woods, and let’s take a look:
Stila’s beloved ultra creamy, hydrating Color Balm Lipstick range will now also feature a new classic nude collection consisting of 3 shades for fair (Meg), medium (Sophie) and dark (Elyssa) skin tones. These 3 shades were specifically chosen to suit all skin tones. These lippies feature a comfortable balm-like texture with a luxe-satin finish, excellent pigmentation, a handy mirror on top of the cap for easy application & cooling peppermint oil to provide a fresh, rejuvenating tingle. These lipsticks are limited edition for Valentine’s Day, will be available from end of January & will retail for R 225,00 each at selected Woolworths, Truworths & Edgars stores.
I am in love with the rose gold packaging of these new Stila Color Balm lippies and will definitely be checking them out once they’re in-store. I think Elyssa (the darkest shade) will be perfect for any skin tone, actually, and will be the perfect Autumn / Winter shade for even pale skin.
Smashbox is launching their SUPER popular (and highly anticipated here in SA) eyeshadow palette called Full Exposure at the end of this month – eeeeeep! I’m so excited about this one! The Full Exposure palette features a set of universally awesome neutrals (14 shades to be exact), ranging from nudes to blacks, long-wearing shimmers (7) to velvety-smooth mattes (7) and includes a double-ended makeup brush, plus an eye shape chart (how-to’s for 6 eye shapes). The Smashbox Full Exposure palette will retail for R 895,00 at Red Square, Woolworths and Edgars stores.
Dermalogica will be launching their brand spanking new PowerBright TRx™ range this month. With a consumer demand for powerful brightening products to offset hyperpigmentation and dark spots caused by UV damage, age and hormones, Dermalogica introduces new PowerBrightTRx™, a potent trio of skin-brighteners, which incorporate the newest technologies to produce more even, luminous skin tone. This new range from Dermalogica will be available at Dermalogica Concept Stores, Sorbet salons and selected beauty salons.
Pure Light SPF 50 ♥ R 895,00 – this advanced daytime treatment moisturiser shields the skin from pigment-inducing UV light. Moisture-rich spheres made from Saffl ower seeds, allow for increased SPF performance of a product while using fewer chemical sunscreens, resulting in a product that is more wearable and less likely to cause sensitised reactions in the skin. A powerful peptide helps regulate melanin production, Hyaluronic Acid helps restore moisture balance, while a potent blend of Red Algae and botanical extracts helps balance uneven skin tone. It blends invisibly into skin without leaving a white residue.
C-12 Pure Bright Serum ♥ R 1200,00 – this highly active topical treatment helps address pigmentation imbalance and fight melanin formation. This serum absorbs quickly to optimise efficacy, while helping to increase skin luminosity.
Pure Night ♥ R 1080,00 – a rich and nourishing overnight treatment that helps control melanin formation, restore brightness while the skin is at rest. Formulated with an active blend of Oligopeptide-34 and skin brightening Vitamin C, along with cranberry and raspberry seed oils that help restore critical barrier lipids, optimising skin hydration and reducing the appearance of fine dehydration lines.
Please note: PowerBright TRx™ replaces ChromaWhite TRx®.
Clarisonic is coming to town this month, everyone! It’s time to think beyond the washcloth and elevate cleansing to a sonic level. Clarisonic’s patented sonic technology gently removes the impurities traditional cleaning methods leave behind, cleansing 6 times better than your hands alone. In just 60 seconds, its sonic action removes impurities from pores so that creams, serums, and moisturisers are more effective. And with regular daily use you’ll notice a reduction in dry patches, oily areas, and blemishes. Three devices will be available for purchase in SA: the Mia 2 (entry level device), Aria (latest technology device) and the Plus (which also features a body brush head). Pricing will start at R 2499,00 per device, replacement brush heads will retail for R 399,00 and will exclusively be sold at Stuttafords.
I’ve been meaning to write a comprehensive blog post about my experience with the Clarisonic Mia (which I’ve owned for 2+ years now) and the Clarisonic Aria – as mentioned in this blog post, I had the best intentions of loading at least 2 extra blog posts before the end of 2014 but sadly that didn’t happen. I have almost finished writing my review blog post and it should be up this week!
Moroccanoil has added a new collection of high-performance Tourmaline Ionic Ceramic hair brushes to their comprehensive line of styling, conditioning and finishing products. All 3 brushes are specially designed with an exclusive hidden sectioning tip located at the base of the handle – the tip can be pulled out, inverted and re-inserted to help part and section the hair. These ionic ceramic tourmaline hair brushes create shiny-looking hair, while helping to speed up drying time. Negative ions help water to evaporate more quickly, eliminate frizz and smooth the cuticle of the hair. These brushes will be sold at selected hair salons (I’m finding out whether Retail Box & Everything Hair will be selling them too, will update the post as soon as I have confirmation).
55″ Round Brush ♥ R 250,00 - perfect for all hair types, ideal to create shape, enhance curls, add volume, and increase shine.
25″ Round Brush ♥ R 170,00 - this small round barrel brush allows for more control and precise styling, perfect for short hair. It is ideal for adding shape, volume and creating curls.
Paddle Brush ♥ R 200,00 - flat and wide, this paddle brush is ideal for everyday use. It works to help detangle hair while special bristles provide the added benefit of massaging the scalp.
There’s a new subscription box in town, ladies, and it is called The Test Box (a very fitting name indeed). The Test Box website has been around for a couple of months now, but initially only sold hair care products (think brands like Kevin Murphy, Goldwell, ghd, Sexy Hair, Moroccanoil & Paul Mitchell). In December they launched a concept called ‘Gift Box’ where you were actually able to choose how much you wanted to spend (pricing started at R 200,00 if I remember correctly) and they filled it with hair care products suitable for your hair type (you indicated your hair type, hair concerns, gender and favourite colour when you placed your order), they even included mini-sized OPI nail polishes in some of the boxes, plus delivery is FREE (you do pay for delivery if you purchase something from their online store though). There are still a few of these ‘Gift Box’ boxes left, so you can check them out here.
HOWEVER, The Test Box recently launched their subscription box service that retails for R 160,00 per month and is delivered to your door (free of charge). These boxes will contain sample products from professional brands, will never include sample sachets and full sizes of all product samples received in the box will be available for purchase in their online shop. 3, 6 and 12 month subscriptions are available and payment is via debit order.
I think I’m going to sign up for a 3-month subscription to put them to the test and will do ‘Unboxing’ blog posts / videos to let you guys know exactly how I feel about this service. The box you see above was sent to me to introduce me to their brand – so far I am loving the Kevin Murphy Hydrate-Me.Rinse, the Joico K-Pak Color Therapy Restorative Styling Oil, the Kevin Murphy Body Builder Voluminising Mousse (it comes with a spray nozzle, so interesting!) and obviously the little mini OPI polishes.
Beauty Besties of 2014 blog post is coming your way this week, so keep your eyes peeled for that.
I hope everyone is having a lovely Monday…if not, go grab yourself a cupcake…you deserve it!
