AOL is a company that is set on purchasing medium to large-scale internet sites, and they’re betting on the Google Reader being phased out on July 1 as well as other sites like Digg, Feedly and apps like Flipboard and Pulse. AOL is hoping to draw on some of Google’s market share. AOL has released its own RSS aggregator to boost its traffic stats.

AOL will formally open its Reader system on June 24 as reported by its own news site Engadget and other news sites. The Reader will run in a beta version starting on Monday. Participants can register e-mail addresses on the favorites subdomain, favorites.my.aol.com, on the search and content sites. It’s wondered if AOL’s solution will work.

AOL’s slogan for this service is: All your favorite web sites in one place. The AOL Reader will be homogeneous compared to other Reader services. The AOL Reader will be served up with a lot of white space and probably some AOL ads in the user’s RSS feed. AOL Readers can be rendered in conventional web browsers, tablets, and smartphones.

The impression is that Google is indifferent about anybody taking market share in the Google Reader space. They still haven’t decided to kill it fully yet.
