Easy Youthful Glow Makeup Application
I’m a huge fan of Project Runway. I love watching Heidi Klum strutting across the screen, always looking so beautiful and proud of the fact that she is in her 40s. She is a mother of four who knows how to rock a pair of skinny jeans and four-inch stilettos. Even when she is not in front of the camera she carries herself with plenty of style and makes it looks effortless, which is exactly what today’s post is about! And since Mary Kay® is the official beauty sponsor of Project Runway, I am using their products to show you a makeup application that’s quick and easy (that’s for you busy moms!), and will make you look like an enhanced version of yourself on your best day.
Natural Look: Before Makeup Application.
This makeup application won’t change the way you look but rather bump up the warmth and glow of your skin, while making your eyes stand out a little more. No bells and whistles–just peachy rose colors for a youthful glow. Everyone can easily achieve this look–you just need a couple of makeup items to get started. But first things first, you need a good foundation base. I will say this over and over again; if you are over 35 years old, move away from compact foundation and only use liquid. This is such an important step and is the difference between looking dry and cakey vs light and breezy. Once you have applied the foundation, seal it with an powder using a makeup brush.
Your skin is now ready for this youthful glow application!
Let’s start with a bronzer to give your skin that sun kissed look. Using a large makeup brush, swirl it in the bronzer and tap off excess to prevent a streaky mess. Very lightly brush bronzer across the top of your forehead, cheekbones and jaw line.
Next, let’s add color to your beautiful cheeks. I’m using Spiced Poppy by Mary Kay®. You can see below how bright the color is but don’t be scared, this is exactly what you are looking for! Always give your makeup brush a couple of taps to shake off the excess color and gently apply on the apple of your cheeks (it’s easier if you smile while applying).
Next are the eyes. Pick a color that’s a shade or two lighter than your blush and apply starting at the bottom of the top lashes all the way up to the eye crease. Blend with your fingers for a more natural look. Apply a white, pale pink or pale champagne color right below the brow bone and a by your tear ducts to brighten up the eyes. Now use a little mascara to add volume to your top lashes. Leave bottom lashes bare.
Fill in your eyebrows using a light colored brow pencil and use a brow gel to shape and add definition. Tip: for full eyebrows use a clear gel. For light eyebrows use a tinted brow gel.
Last not but not least, use a lip gloss instead of a lipstick (it looks more natural) to add some shimmer. And just like that, you are done and ready to go conquer the world! This look takes no longer than 15 minutes and the result is stunning. Be ready to receive lots and lots of compliment at the office tomorrow!
