June 8th, 2014..Two Las Vegas police officers and one civilian were shot and killed Sunday when a gun-toting duo went on a killing spree before shooting one another dead in an apparent suicide pact, authorities say. Las Vegas police spokesman Larry Hadfield told The Associated Press that the shooting spree began around 11:30 a.m. Sunday when a man and woman walked into CiCi’s Pizza restaurant on North Nellis Boulevard and ambushed two officers who were eating lunch. Sheriff Doug Gillespie identified the two officers as Alyn Beck, 42, and Igor Soldo, 32. He said one of the officers was able to fire back at the suspects. The suspects then grabbed the officers’ weapons and ammunition and stormed out of the pizzeria, Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill told KVVU Fox 5. The duo fled to the Walmart across the street, where they shot and killed a person at the front door and then killed themselves in an apparent suicide pact, Hadfield said. Police and a SWAT team were dispatched to the scene, KVVU Fox 5 reports. Clark County Assistant Sheriff Kevin McMahill said at a news conference that the male suspect yelled “everyone get out” before shooting at Walmart. The man and woman then went to the back of the store. Hadfield said one of the suspects yelled, “This is a revolution.”

June 6th, 2014…Atlanta GA. A man described by authorities as an antigovernment “sovereign citizen” entered a courthouse in suburban Atlanta this morning armed with multiple guns and explosives and opened fire. The man was shot and killed by sheriff’s deputies shortly after wounding one officer in the leg. According to Sheriff Duane Piper, the man, Dennis Marx of Cumming, Ga., drove up to the courthouse in his SUV and emerged from the vehicle with several guns and some explosives, and reportedly wearing a bulletproof vest and a gas mask. As he approached the entrance, he threw out homemade smoke grenades that briefly covered his approach with orange smoke, as well as pepper spray grenades and homemade spike strips. Forsyth County deputy Daniel Rush came out to confront Marx and was shot in the leg. Then, as Marx proceeded into the building, he was met with a hail of gunfire and was killed.

August 13th, 2013….Just last year in Las Vegas, Police: Terrorist plot to kidnap, kill cops stopped. LAS VEGAS (AP) — A sting operation stopped a plot to abduct, torture and kill police officers to bring attention to the antiauthority sovereign citizen movement, Las Vegas police said Thursday. David Allen Brutsche and Devon Campbell Newman were arrested at an apartment a few miles off the Vegas Strip before they could carry out a plan to snatch officers, “put them on trial” and execute them in a vacant house, Las Vegas police Lt. James Seebock said. Police identified Brutsche as a six-time convicted felon and child sex offender from California. Authorities did not detail a further criminal background for Newman. Federal authorities regard sovereign citizen extremists as domestic terrorists. Authorities have linked sovereign citizens groups with violent confrontations in recent years, including deadly shootings in Louisiana and Arkansas. Brutsche, 42, and Newman, 67, wanted to draw attention to the group’s rejection of governmental authority, making the case a domestic terror plot, Seebock said. “They were furthering their ‘sovereign citizen’ ideology by committing criminal acts toward law enforcement,” he said.

FBI REPORT Domestic Terrorism “The Sovereign Citizen Movement” in Sarasota Fl. FBI looks at the “sovereign citizen” extremist movement. Sovereign citizens are anti-government extremists who believe that even though they physically reside in this country, they are separate or “sovereign” from the United States. As a result, they believe they don’t have to answer to any government authority, including courts, taxing entities, motor vehicle departments, or law enforcement. They clog up the court system with frivolous lawsuits and liens against public officials and police departments (sounds just like the ACLU in Sarasota Fl) to harass them. SARASOTA FL; Link to sovereign citizen movement costly for Sarasota police officer. SARASOTA — In the spring of 2011 a respected detective for this city’s police department went to the local courthouse and did something stupid. At the time, Tom Laughlin, his photo above, a twice-married 41-year-old father of four, was worried about the unstable economy. He found unsettling politicians’ talk about cutting the pensions of public employees, and he didn’t like President Barack Obama’s health care plan. He had some vague notion of wanting to get back to this country’s “roots.” His brother, Jimmy Laughlin, also a “sovereign citizen” who was charged in St. Johns County Fl with trying to extort two Florida Highway Patrol troopers and later with bilking a Sarasota bank of $50,000, convinced Laughlin that he could declare himself a “freeman.” Following the advice of his older brother, he filed a set of strange documents, declaring himself “a flesh and blood, living, breathing, biological man,” and an “American National Sovereign.” The documents seemed to say he was no longer a citizen and didn’t have to follow any laws. “I, one Thomas Michael Laughlin Senior, Free man.” He was fired.

March 14th, 2013 Panhandle Florida…..An armed “sovereign citizen,” accused of printing his own currency and defying government authority, was shot and killed in Florida last weekend after a four-hour standoff with a police SWAT team. Like so many law enforcement encounters with sovereign citizens, the case involving Jeffrey Allen Wright began with a routine traffic stop before quickly escalating. Wright attempted to pay his traffic fine with counterfeit money, then refused to acknowledge courts had jurisdiction over him when additional charges were filed against him. When Santa Rosa County sheriff’s deputies and other officers went to Wright’s home in Navarre, Fla., last Friday night to arrest him on counterfeiting charges, the 55-year-old man barricaded himself in the residence and fired a shot, apparently from an automatic firearm, officials said. Ordered by deputies to come out unarmed, Wright responded, “Come and get me,” according to a press release from the Santa Rose County Sheriff’s Office. When SWAT team members fired tear gas into the second story of the home’s attached garage, Wright began breaking out windows with a handgun, the release said. Moments later, when SWAT officers entered the home, they found Wright sitting at the top of a stairwell. The department’s press release said that Wright raised his pistol and pointed it directly at the SWAT members.
