The Client
Our client is an innovative high tech firm that has a position available for a solid Object Oriented PHP developer working on MVC & Django based frameworks and a bespoke CMS (Content Management System), focusing on system functionality for a high traffic web platform with a large focus heavy duty caching involvement and a strong understanding of server side functionality and performance, programming in OO PHP code.
Responsibilities
* Develop innovative functionality solutions for a world class, large scale OO PHP MVC framework / platform
* Incorporate cutting edge PHP / JavaScript web and server side technologies to produce innovative PHP / MySQL based solutions
* Set logically planned targets and technical specifications for new developments and ensure they are delivered to schedule and expectation
* Develop in PHP, SQL, BASH, HTML, CSS and Javascript (jQuery, Backbone.js) to achieve well engineered results to best coding practices in Agile enviroments.
Experience Required
* Proven track record of PHP5 development with a strong knowledgebase of OOP and OOD principlies and working Object Orientated development experience.
* Strong knowledgebase in high volume, resource heavy web platform and producing scalable PHP / MySQL solutions
* A strong understanding of cross browser and platform development in OO PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and libraries including jQuery/Moo Tools
* Strong LAMP / Web stack understanding and knowledgebase from PHP5 to MySQL & PostreSQL to JavaScript to HTML/CSS to Server side understanding including Apache
* Understand of source code revision e.g. Subversion / GIT
Nice to have's:
* Strong understanding of web caching e.g. memcache
* Understanding of NoSQL technologies e.g. Redis / MongoDB
* Knowledgebase of RESTful services
* Exposure to SOAP
* Understanding of distributed systems
* Understanding of issue management systems e.g. Atlassian JIRA/Confluence
* Understanding of an IDE e.g. Eclipse / NetBeans / Textmate
* Agile development understanding / principles knowledgebase
