Summary:

Exciting web application development company seeks talented and enthusiastic PHP developer to join a young, small dedicated team to help develop existing, and created new, web based applications. The role offers a diverse range of challenges, and is suited a go-getting individual who is both pro-active and a problem solver.

The candidate will be responsible for development and maintenance of a series of web-based applications. Job duties include developing PHP applications, integrating with third-party API's, working with a team of skilled PHP and web developers and designers, implementing and enforcing coding guidelines and testing procedures, and providing support.

Responsibilities:

- Work with Manager and development team to design, implement, test and develop new and existing web applications.

- Develop web applications utilizing PHP, CSS, HTML, Javascript/JQuery.

- Create and maintain documentation.

- Investigate new technologies and define and identify their potential use within the applications.

- Be directly contactable by First line support as Second line support for the applications. Responsible for management and escalation of any issues raised by First line support.

Required Skills:

- Three or more years PHP experience.

- Two or more years Object Oriented PHP experience

- MySQL expertise including optimization and security

- Experience with JQuery frameworks and JavaScript

- Strong knowledge of web-based UI development using HTML and CSS

- Strong knowledge with working in Unix/Linux environments

- Content versioning experience, ideally with Mercurial, GIT or Subversion.

As second line support, the role is responsible for supporting the first line support team which is located in London. A member of second line support, on a rotation, will be always available to first line support during events. They will be responsible in the event of system crash or a code error that is outside of the remit of the first line support.

The development team in Atlanta will eventually be made up of a minimum of two individuals with particular expertise, along with the CTO. The team will require PHP knowledge, at a very high level, as a minimum as that is the basis of the entire system and future applications. The team also requires expertise in the following skills; MySQL (database creation, optimization, load testing), Security (code injection, latest hacking techniques), Server setup (loading a server from scratch with all the correct configuration, including load testing), jQuery, HTML and CSS (to realize the cutting edge designs efficiently and accurately). This must be combined with a knowledge and enthusiasm of cutting edge technology (jQueryMobile, Memcaching, Node.js) for as system evolves, and new applications can be created at the forefront of what is achievable in the market.
