6th November 2013 – Bonkers.ie was crowned the best website in Ireland at the Realex Fire Web Awards last night. The Awards, celebrating the best that Irish websites have to offer, had 29 category winners including Joe.ie, Irish Times, An Spailpin, The AA, Fusion and Street, Bridges of Dublin and Childline. A full list of winners is provided below.
Speaking at the Awards ceremony, founder and organiser, Damien Mulley remarked, “The volume and quality of entries was extremely high and the judges had their work cut out for them choosing just one website in each category. We introduced a novel new category this year, the ugliest website in Ireland. The winners, RSS.ie, will be treated to a makeover in the form of €4,500 worth of web design from V7.”
Paul Dunne, Head of Business Development for Realex Fire commented, “The Web Awards are the antithesis of awards ceremonies and Realex Fire are delighted to have supported them once again. There was a record number of nominations and we would like to extend our congratulations to all the winners.”
The Realex Fire Web Awards stand out from other awards as anyone can nominate a site, from which a shortlist and the eventual winners are selected by a judging panel. There were 1035 nominations across 29 categories and 700 unique sites entered this year. All winners are also listed on the awards website, www.webawards.ie.
The Award Ceremony, hosted by Rick O’Shea, RTE 2FM DJ, was a mix of fun and the absurd with random spot prizes awarded throughout the evening. Games such as ‘test your strength’, ‘beat the bleep’ and temporary tattoos were all on offer!
