“A bargain ain’t a bargain unless it’s something you need.”

What’s In It For Us?

Every year, the paleo community bands together and offers a huge number of books and other resources for a crazy low price, for one week only. $1500 worth of stuff for $39 – how can we resist? Not so fast! I’m not just paleo, I’m autoimmune paleo, and I’m not interested in a bunch nightshade-laden cookbooks that I can’t use. I was offered a sneak peek into this year’s e-book bundle, and have reviewed if from our point of view. Luckily for us, I found some great resources:

Autoimmune Paleo Breakthrough e-Book: The author Anne Angelone is a functional medicine practitioner who has reversed her own autoimmune disease (ankylosing spondylitis) and helped many patients do the same. This 120-page e-book tackles the basics of the autoimmune protocol (AIP), but also discusses the causes of autoimmune disease, lifestyle factors, supplements, detox measures, troubleshooting steps, and even includes 28 simple AIP-friendly recipes. Angelone is also a member of The Paleo Mom Consulting, and has aligned her e-book with the Paleo Approach. ($9.99 value)

Well Fed 2 e-Cookbook: The author Melissa Joulwan is one of the best cooks and personalities in the paleosphere. She also has a soft spot for people on the autoimmune protocol, because she’s done the AIP herself. So, with the help of Mickey Trescott, she created an AIP adaptation guide in the back of her book. The result is that 2/3 of the recipes are either AIP “as is” or have modification instructions to make them AIP-friendly. ($9.95 value)

Paleo Plan’s Paleo Cleanse 21-Day e-Book: The author Neely Quinn is a nutrition therapist who is also a great writer. This book reads like a conversation with a smart friend, who can explain all the ways food affects our health in clear terms. The best part is that the cleanse is very close to the AIP, and it includes meal plans! The only modifications you’ll need to make are in the details. Some recipes include ham, sausage and coconut milk. You’ll need to shop carefully to be sure the ones you buy are free of additives and forbidden spices. She also includes a few seed-based spices in the recipes, which you can omit or exchange for herbs. Otherwise, the meal plan is free of all grains, legumes, sugars, refined oils, dairy, eggs, nightshades, nuts and whole seeds. Neely also gets bonus points for including nutrient-dense foods like bone broth, organ meats and seafood in the meal plans. ($25 value)

The Paleo Approach QuickStart Guide: Most of you are familiar with the Paleo Approach, a 400+ page guide to reversing autoimmune disease. It’s an incredible resource, but the amount of information contained can be overwhelming. For that reason, Sarah Ballantyne (the author) created a 10 page e-book focusing on the essentials: an overview of the protocol, a list of foods to avoid, a list of foods to eat, guidelines for reintroducing foods, lifestyle suggestions, and a list of helpful resources. ($6.99 value)

3 Research Papers from Loren Cordain: Sometimes it’s helpful to know the science behind the recommendations, and Cordain is the grandfather of the autoimmune healing movement. His research has inspired everyone from Terry Wahls to Robb Wolf to Sarah Ballantyne. The papers included in this bundle are: “Eggs Whites and Autoimmune Disease”, “Grass Fed vs. Grain Fed Beef”, and “Acne and the Paleo Diet.” ($14.97 value)

Easy Paleo Gelatin Treats e-Cookbook: The author Caitlin Weeks is a nutrition consultant who manages her autoimmune disease (Hashimoto’s) through the paleo lifestyle. Gelatin is one of the great healing foods recommended in our community, and this book offers 30 recipes for gummies, puddings and smoothies, the majority of which are AIP-friendly or easily adapted. ($9.99 value)

Coupons up the Wazoo! 14 discounts, including 15% off a Squatty Potty (recommended by Sarah Ballantyne herself), 20% off Paleo Magazine (where I write my column), free shipping from Paleo on the Go (which now has AIP meals available), 20% off Epic Bars (their Bison Bar is AIP-friendly), 20% off Paleo Butter (a brand of allergen-free ghee), and 20% off Primal Life Organics (skincare products recommended by Skintervention author Liz Wolfe).

30-Day Moneyback guarantee. No questions asked, no hassles, no problems. I’m impressed.

What’s In It For the Rest of Your Family

I’ve highlighted the autoimmune components of this sale, but I know many of you (like me) have members of your household that don’t need to follow a strict autoimmune protocol. Here are the items in the Primal Life Kit that you’ll get free alongside the autoimmune resources listed above:

Inflammation Free Zone Online Course: Do you have a member of the family who hasn’t yet made the paleo plunge? This program is a great first step to help people transition away from the Standard American Diet. It removes gluten, dairy, sugar, refined oils and processed foods. The author Amy Hager is a registered dietitian and health coach. In addition to recipes and meal plans, she covers all aspects of healthy living in this course, including sleep, play, meditation, and exercise. She even has recipes for household cleaners and beauty products, to help detoxify our bodies and homes. The course is a 35-page e-book which you download immediately, plus weekly supportive emails from the author to help stay motivated during her 30 day protocol.

11 other cookbooks: While only 10% of the recipes in these cookbooks are AIP-friendly, the other 90% are totally paleo and will make your family very happy. Authors include some of the most popular paleo food bloggers: Civilized Caveman, Cavegirl Cuisine, Chowstalker, Food Renegade, and many others.

Resources galore: There are paleo and primal meal plans, healthy get-started guides, budget books, e-magazine subscriptions, fitness programs, inspirational success stories, and resources that are hard to pigeonhole in a single category.
