While hosting a doubleheader of conference lacrosse competition this Saturday, March 29, the Chestnut Hill College women’s and men’s lacrosse teams will help raise awareness for two worthy causes; Friends of Jaclyn Foundation and the Wounded Warrior Project.
The Griffins invite friends, family, and the entire College community to join them at Victory Field #1 for an action-packed day of lacrosse and support those who battle the day-to-day challenges of pediatric brain cancer and post-service handicaps.
The Chestnut Hill College women’s lacrosse team will begin the afternoon with a 1:00 p.m. opening draw against Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival, Georgian Court University. While competing against the Lions, the Griffins are looking to raise $300 toward the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children, and their families who are battling pediatric brain tumors; pairing children and their families with college and high school sports teams.
In addition to warming-up in official Friends of Jaclyn t-shirts, the Griffins will be collecting donations during the contest and postgame tailgate. The Friends of Jaclyn Foundation gives these afflicted children the love, support, and friendship they need to fight this devastating disease. The lasting relationships formed between the student athletes, the children, and their families, have greatly improved the quality of life for many children with brain tumors.
In the second game of the afternoon, the 15th-ranked Chestnut Hill College men’s lacrosse team will host #9 LIU Post University for a 4:00 p.m. East Coast Conference (ECC) contest. During their contest, the Griffins will be raising funds and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project, which aims to raise awareness and enlist the public’s aid for the needs of injured service members, provide help and aid with unique and direct programs and services that will help foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history.
During completion, the Griffins will accept all donations to the Wounded Warrior Project and dawn camouflaged shorts and warm-ups featuring the organization’s logo. Admission prices for the contest will charge adults and non-Chestnut Hill College students $5 and children (age 5-18) $3 apiece with all proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior Project.
