Boys’ Events
The Philadelphia Face-Off League 5-week faceoff clinic at Maple Zone Sports Institute in Garnet Valley, PA. In order to be a part of the league you must have at least ONE year of experience facing-off at a high level for your varsity or club team. This league is not for beginners! This is an IDEAL clinic for face-off guys who want to just show up and face-off against some quality opponents for 90 minutes. After receiving a thorough warm up for about 10-15 minutes, players in the league will be constantly going “live” against each other in a fun round robin style format. The new rules and regulations for face-offs will be strictly enforced throughout the session. At the end of every session a King of the X will be held to see who has the hot hand that day! Players in the league should already be able to demonstrate the proper faceoff stance and body language in order to compete. This is a great way to come out and gain amazing experience against local high school players who will all be facing off for their varsity teams in the Spring. The Face-Off League is run by John Bodnar (Episcopal Academy, NXT Lacrosse) and Mike Dolente (Cabrini College, Dukes). Old School Winter Stick Skills sessions, hosted by Old School Lacrosse club and directed by Haverford School coach John Nostrant. Begins Dec. 7 at The Phelps School for boys in Grades 9, 10 and 11. Training will consist of Stick Skills, and small sided controlled settled/unsettled situations. This is only for field players due to the high repetition of the drills being used (there will be no goalies). These sessions are not for beginners; players must have a basic proficiency. Players can register even if they do not play for the Old School club. The sessions will focus on proper throwing/shooting mechanics in order to achieve maximum efficiency in drills and small sided situations. The curriculum is progressive and builds upon itself each week, therefore we do not add players after week one of the clinic or offer a per session rate. If you are serious about getting better you will not want to miss one of these sessions. There will be elements of box lacrosse combined with field lacrosse techniques in a unique curriculum that produces rapid results. The curriculum and instruction is delivered by Adam Mueller, a 19 year NLL veteran and the only coach in league history to bring three separate teams to the playoffs. Coach Mueller is well known for his ability to break down skills and develop talent from youth players to the pros. Other coaches are: Bob DiIonno &Mike McGuane.

CURRICULUM – 1.5 hours of stick skills; Focus will be on technique your son may not get from town/school coaches, both Canadian and US skills; Maximize touches they cannot get in normal team practices; Skills developed through repetition and full speed work; Most drills the kids will not have seen but they will be in game simulated settings; Quick touch drills to increase instincts and anticipation (ball in and out of stick drills); 300 quality touches per session

Blue Devil Select Lacrosse, LLC will be hosting a kickoff clinic on Friday, December 27th from 6-8 PM at the Phelps School in Malvern for the 2020/2021 age group. The event will serve as a tryout to pick players interested in participating on a Spring-only training team, called Blue Devil Select, for the 2020-21 age group. The program is run by former Duke two-time National champion and captain Billy Conners, a former All-American and All-Phillylacrosse.com defenseman from Malvern Prep. The program is geared to improve the boys as lacrosse players, meet friends, and compete at a high level. Conners will hold practices in the Spring that are designed to replicate the exact drills and practices learned playing at the Division 1 level. The team will then compete against local club teams and others from the “hotbeds” of lacrosse in full-length games. The cost is $35 per player. I encourage my players to still play for those teams as this will not go into the summer.

Leagues
The South Jersey Boys Box Lacrosse League Second Session will start Jan 3rd, 2014 and will return to grade based play. SJBBLL will also introduce a high school division. Youth will be playing at: The Skate Zone, 601 Laurel Oak Rd., Voorhees, NJ 08043; High School will be playing at: ISC Mt Laurel, 1 Hovtech Blvd., Mt Laurel, NJ 08054. All the high school games will be played on Saturday nights and the Youth will have a mix of Saturdays and Sunday game times. Arcadia Men’s Lacrosse is hosting a Coaches Clinic on Sunday February 2 with seminars from Philly region Division I coaches. The event – being held at the 2nd floor of the Student Center – is limited to 50 coaches and costs $35. Registration information is below. BSN sports is the event sponsor.

Spring Tournaments
The 2014 Irish Skirmish Tournament, April 26th and April 27th at the Herbst Sports Complex in Pipersville, Bucks County. Boys teams in grades 3-6 play on Saturday, April 26th and girls in 5th to 8th grades grade) as well as 7/8th grade boys play on Sunday, April 27th. The Irish Skirmish was created in honor of Coach Brian Riley, who passed away in 2005 .

Summer Tournaments
The inaugural boys’ F4 PHILLY KICKOFF CLASSIC, presented by the people that brought you the F4 Showbine®, will take place on the south campus of West Chester University, June 14-15. The venue features three turf fields and seven immaculate grass fields and is easily accessible from all destinations with ample free parking. The championship format tournament will feature A and B brackets for High School through U13. U11 and U9 teams will be competitively matched based on coaches’ evaluations of the teams. All teams are guaranteed four games. Many top programs from around the nation have already committed, setting up for great competition. Boys Summer Slam Lacrosse Tournament, by the Pattison Sports Group. Will be held June 21-22, 2014 at The Westtown School, Bayard Rustin High School and West Chester United Soccer Complex in West Chester. The Summer Slam is a youth, middle school and high school boy’s lacrosse tournament featuring teams from across the country. In 2013, the tourney drew more than 225 teams from 19 states play in a championship format with each team guaranteed four games.
