Men’s lacrosse: St. Joseph’s adds 21 newcomers to class of 2017

Saint Joseph’s men’s lacrosse head coach Taylor Wray has announced the incoming class of 2017, which features 21 newcomers from five states plus Canada. The incomers will look to mesh with returning Hawks as the Crimson and Gray compete in their inaugural season in the Northeast Conference this spring.

Tyler Cliggett • M • Warrington, Pa. • Saint Joseph’s Prep • Finance

A two-time All-Catholic League selection, Cliggett led the Hawks of St. Joseph’s Prep to the 2013 Philadelphia Catholic League title game. The midfielder out of Warrington, Pa. was a member of the Twist Lacrosse club team and excelled in the classroom, earning distinguished honors and high honors en route to being named a national Latin exam medalist. Cliggett also played two years of varsity football at St. Joseph’s Prep.

Miles Davis • A • Earlysville, Va. • Saint Anne’s-Belfield • Sports Marketing

Davis was a two-time Brine All-American as a three-year starting attack for the Saints of St. Anne’s Belfield School in Charlottesville, Va. An All-Virginia Prep League selection and senior team captain, Davis led the Saints in points and goals and earned the squad’s Coach Award last season. As a junior, the 2012 ScrimmagePlay Honorable Mention ranked third on the offensive end in points and goals to help the Saints to the 2012 Virginia Prep League Championship title. Davis played his freshman year of varsity lacrosse at the Covenant School, where he led the team in points (67) and goals (35) en route to being named both the ScrimmagePlay Newcomer of the Year and an All-Virginia Independent Conference Second Team selection. In addition to starting every game of his four-year varsity lacrosse career, Davis was also a two-year starter and senior team captain for the Saints’ varsity football program, where he earned multiple All-State, All-Conference, and All-

ScrimmagePlay accolades. The two-sport athlete received St. Anne Belfield’s athletic award for demonstrating dedication and excellence in athletics, participated in various community service projects, and made the Dean’s List every trimester.

Charles Giunta • D • Philadelphia, Pa. • William Penn Charter • Mathematics

A 2013 All-State, All-League, and All-Phillylacrosse.com LSM-DEF, Giunta was good for 140 ground balls, 87 caused turnovers, a 56% face-off percentage, and 14 points off of 12 goals and two assists en route to earning MVP honors as the squad’s captain last season at William Penn Charter. In three seasons for the Quakers, Giunta totaled 328 ground balls, 165 caused turnovers and 20 points off of 14 goals and six assists. The local product played club lacrosse for the Dukes and helped lead the

team to a pair of championships at the Tri-State Lacrosse Festival and Champ Camp. Giunta also excelled in water polo and wrestling at William Penn Charter. The three-year water polo letterwinner won two Inter-Ac Championships, took third at the Eastern meet, led the squad to an undefeated season, and was a member of a Quaker team that was ranked amongst the top 25 teams on the East Coast. The tri-athlete also boxed professionally for Joe Hand Boxing Gym in South

Philadelphia.

Colin Goldstein • M • Glen Ridge, N.J. • Glen Ridge • Social Science

A 2013 All-American, Goldstein is coming off of a high school career in which he totaled 210 career points off of 122 goals ad 88 assists at Glen Ridge High School. The four-year varsity letterwinner and 2013 team captain led the Ridgers to two Essex County Championships and the 2012 New Jersey Group I Championship and is a two-time All-State, All-Gibbs Division, and All-Essex County selection. Also an asset in the classroom, Goldstein made the honor roll at Glen Ridge.

Mitchell Gray • D • Basking Ridge, N.J. • Ridge • Sports Marketing

A defender out of Basking Ridge, N.J., Gray was an All-State, All-Somerset County, All-Area, and All-Skyland Conference selection at Ridge High School, where he led the Red Devils to the New Jersey IV State Championship, Somerset County Championship, and New Jersey Tournament of Champions Championship. Gray was a standout in the classroom as well as he cracked the honor roll all four years of his high school career.

Anthony Joaquim • M • Guelph, Ontario, Canada • The Hill Academy/Our Lady of Lourdes • Sports Marketing

Joaquim, a native of Ontario, Canada, captained the Guelph Regals to the 2010 Final Six finals and helped lead the squad to the 2006 Field Championship title and 2002 Tyke Championship title. Joaquim also earned the 2012 and 2010 gold medals with Team Ontario Field Lacrosse and the 2010 bronze medal with Team Ontario Box Lacrosse. Off the field, Joaquim was a 2012 varsity basketball member of the District 10 and CWOSSA championship teams and OFSSA finalist squad. Also a two-time District 10 All-Star as a receiver, Joaquim helped the varsity football program to the 2011 District 10 Championship title. The incoming midfielder earned the 2011-12 Ambassadorship Award and was also greatly involved in the community as a CYO basketball

volunteer from 2009-12.

T.J. Jones • GK • Basking Ridge, N.J. • Ridge • Business Administration

A 2013 New Jersey All-American, All-State, All-Courier News All-Area, and All-Conference selection out of Basking Ridge, N.J., Jones owned the net as he led the Red Devils of Ridge High School to the Somerset County Championship title, where he was named the championship MVP, the New Jersey Group 4 State Championship title, and the New Jersey Tournament of

Championship title. Jones earned additional All-State and All-Conference honors in 2012 and helped Ridge High to the 2010 NJ Group 3 State Championship title and 2011 title game. A four-year varsity starter and senior team captain for the Red Devils, Jones played club lacrosse for the Leading Edge Elite.

Connor Kubikowski • D • Ridgewood, N.J. • Ridgewood • Business

Kubikowski comes to Hawk Hill after captaining the Maroons of Ridgewood High to two Group 4 Championship titles and two Tournament of Champions semi-finals. The midfielder out of Ridgewood, N.J. earned numerous accolades last season, including 2013 All-State, All-North, AllGibbs, and All-County First Team honors. Kubikowski was also a two-time competitor at DECA, a

program that prepares students for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality and management.

Michael Lanham • M • Garnet Valley, Pa. • Garnet Valley • Business

Lanham, the FCA face-off champion, will bring depth to the face-off position after competing in the 205 All-Star game and earning All-Phillylacrosse.com Second Team and Penncrest Endless Summer All-Tournament honors. The midfielder out of Garnet Valley, Pa. helped the STX to a fifth-place finish at the inaugural Face-Off Tournament of North America and was also a member of the HEADstrong Foundation. Lanham also captained the varsity ice hockey team and made the honor roll at Garnet Valley High School.

Daniel Manning • M • Yorktown Heights, N.Y. • Yorktown • Business •

Manning was twice named a New York Section I selection after totaling 212 ground balls, 22 goals, and 14 assists in his final two seasons at Yorktown High School. The face-off specialist has three years of experience from the X and went 157-of-211 (75%) last season. Manning helped the Huskers to three consecutive New York Section 1 Championships, two New York Class B semifinals, and the 2013 New York Class B playoffs and was a four-year varsity letterwinner in the sport. Off the lacrosse field, Manning was also a 2012-13 All-Section selection for winter track and a two-time captain for the Yorktown High freshman and junior varsity football teams. The Yorktown Heights, N.Y. native is a private tutor in face-offs and was a volunteer for the Gargoyle Athletics winter, spring, and summer lacrosse camps. He participated at the 2012 Alex Smith Face

Off Camp, 2012 Nike Blue Chip Camp, 2011 Top 205 Camp, 2011 Loyola Greyhound Champ, and 2011 Peak 200 Camp, where he was named an All-Star. For club lacrosse, Manning played multiple seasons for the Yorktown No Limit Ballers and was a 2012 Tournament Team selection. The midfielder, who additionally played club lacrosse for the Sound Short Summer Lacrosse League,

also made the 2012 Hudson Valley Team as the top face-off man and midfielder and led team to silver medal at Empire State Cup. Manning was also a standout in the classroom, earning academic honors at Yorktown.

Brian McNamara • M • Ambler, Pa. • La Salle College High • Leadership/Ethics and Organizational Sustainability

A two-time All-Catholic First Team honoree, McNamara led the Explorers to a pair of Catholic League Championships during his career at La Salle College High School. The midfielder out of Ambler, Pa. captained the squad that reached the 2013 state championships last season and was named the 2012 Most Improved Player after ranking second on the squad in scoring as a junior. McNamara received the Travis Manion award in the Game of the Fallen Heroes and was also a member of the freshman soccer team, ski and snowboard club, and Spanish club.

Marcus Milione • M • Gainesville, Va. • Highland School • Business

Milione was named a 2013 VISAA All-State and All-Conference Player after leading Highland to the 2013 VISAA state championship title. The midfielder out of Gainesville, Va. totaled 98 ground balls, 33 goals and 15 assists last season. As a four-year varsity starter and senior team captain, Milione led Highland to three VISAA state championship games and also earned All-Conference

honors in 2011.

Michael Rastivo • A • South Setauket, N.Y. • Choate Rosemary Hall/Ward Melville • Business

Administration

Rastivo played his senior year of lacrosse for Choate Rosemary Hall, where he led the team in scoring en route to a 2013 New England West Honorable Mention nod and 2013 Founders League Championship title. For his dedication, he earned the David T. Layman Jr. Prize for earnest and persistent effort at Choate. At Ward Melville, Rastivo captained the Patriots to the 2012 Empire State Cup Championship title, where he earned MVP and All-Tournament Team honors. The attack out of South Setauket, N.Y. was named to the 2012 pre-season All-State Second Team and tallied 67 points to be named the ESPN RISE #13 attack and #52 overall pick in the Class of 2012 in addition to All-County and All-League accolades following his junior season. In 2011, Rastivo was named to the Hot Beds All-Star Team after being ranked as the tournament’s top player. Off the

field, Rastivo participated in fundraising efforts for the Wounded Warrior Project and was a member of the Choate Grilling Club.

Robert Raucci • A • Garnet Valley, Pa. • Garnet Valley • Food Marketing

Scoring 40+ goals in three consecutive seasons, Raucci combined for 127 goals and 63 assists in his four-year varsity career at Garnet Valley. The incoming attack was a three-time All-Central and All-Delco honoree and All-Phillylacrosse.com Second Team pick for Garnet Valley where he led the Jaguars in scoring as a senior, broke the school record with nine goals in one game and played in the EPSLA game as a sophomore, and was named the team’s Rookie of the Year as a freshman. Raucci was also a member of the 2013 Mesa Fresh squad, leading them to back-to-back district championship trips and back-to-back state playoff appearances.

Kevin Reidinger • M • Long Valley, N.J. • West Morris Central • Business

Reidinger was a four-year varsity starting midfielder, two-time scoring leader, and senior team captain for West Morris Central where he earned All-State and All-County honors three times each. The Long Valley, N.J. native played club lacrosse for Leading Edge Elite. Reidinger was also the team captain of the varsity soccer team and earned high honors at West Morris Central.

Davis Russell • GK • Wilmington, Del. • Archmere Academy • Managing Human Capital

A two-time All-State and three-time All-Diamond State Conference First Team selection out of Wilmington, Del., Russell comes to Hawk Hill as the record-holder for most wins in Archmere Academy history. Russell is a two-time Blue Chip 225 All-Star and was also named the News Journal Athlete of the Week for his excellence in goal at Archmere Academy. The incoming

goalkeeper led the Auks to two state semi-finals games and served as team captain last season. Russell also coaches for Team 302 and is involved with the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware and the Mike Clark Legacy Foundation.

Parker Self • A • Doylestown, Pa. • Central Bucks East • Business

Self, a Philadelphia Under Armour All-American out of Doylestown, Pa., led the Patriots to three Suburban One League Championship titles and two state playoffs in his time at Central Bucks East. Self is a two-time All-Conference selection who was additionally selected to the EPSLA Showcase Team after twice landing on the Philadelphia “Leading Scorers” list. The senior team captain graduated cum laude from Central Bucks East after landing on the high honor roll all four years and

was a National Merit Scholar Finalist. Self has also been involved in the Starlight Foundation, Extra Man Opportunity Community Service Days, and LEAPS Lacrosse Clinic for underprivileged youth.

Shane Taggert • D • Stockton, N.J. • Hunterdon Central • Business

Taggert earned Hunterdon Central’s Defensive MVP honors last season en route to being named the 2013 All-West Jersey Player of the Year. The two-time All-State, All-West Jersey, and All-Conference First Team selection has also earned recognition in the local newspapers, earning All-Courier News and Star Ledger All-State Secnod team honors in 2013 and All-Junior Star Ledger

recognition in in 2012. Taggert was a three-year letterwinner and senior team captain for the Red Devils, where he totaled 103 ground balls over and led the squad to three consecutive county championships and the 2011 and 2012 Group Four State Championship game over the course of his three-year career. The Stockton, N.J. native was Hunterdon Central’s Male Athlete of the Month of April and was also a member of the 2010 and 2011 Midstate 39 Conference Championships teams

and 2010 North Jersey Group IV Section II State Championship squad. Taggert earned academic

honors in 2012 at Hunterdon Central.

Raymond Vandegrift • A • Jenkintown, Pa. • William Penn Charter • Finance

A four-year varsity letterwinner, three-year starter, and senior team captain for the Quakers of William Penn Charter, Vandegrift comes to Hawk Hill after a senior season in which he totaled a team-best 45 goals and 23 assists in 2013. Vandegrift also earned four letters and started four years for the varsity soccer team and led them to one championship and two semi-final matches. The Jenkintown, Pa. native finished on the honor roll his final three years at William Penn Charter.

Evan Wolf • M • Downingtown, Pa. • Downingtown West • Business

A midfielder out of Downingtown, Pa., Wolf was an All-Ches-mont selection and member of the 2011 and 2012 All-Ches-mont Championship squads. A three-year varsity letterwinner at Downingtown West, Wolf captained the squad as a senior and helped lead the Whippets to the Pennsylvania semi-finals. Wolf was also an All-Area and All-Che-smont selection in varsity football

and made the Downingtown West honor roll for three consecutive years. Wolf joins the squad along with his twin brother, Jared Wolf.

A 2013 All-State, All-Region, and All-League First Team selection, Wolf will bring a definitive defensive presence to the 2014 roster. A two-time Defensive MVP at Downingtown West, Wolf was a two-year leader in ground balls and take-aways. Wolf earned additional All-League and All-Phillylacrosse.com honors and helped lead the Whippets to three Ches-mont League

Championships. The 2013 captain most recently played club lacrosse for Rebel Elite and was also on the rosters for Twist Lacrosse and Team Philadelphia. Wolf was also the team captain of the freshman football team at Downingtown West and made the Downingtown West honor roll all four years of his high school career. Wolf joins the squad along with his twin brother, Evan Wolf.
