Summer league

Old Man Lacrosse invites all experienced lax players 30 years and older to play on Wednesday nights at Harriton High. They play NCAA rules, except the possession time clock and if there are enough participants we bring in a referee on a case by case basis. Games are at 6PM at Harriton High School. Interested parties should inquire on the facebook group page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/oldmanlax/. Or contact Andy Silverman at andy@dataqdirect.com/. They do request (but it is not required) a small donation to play each season. The donation is made to a local non-profit Lax group of the organization’s choice each season

Keystone Games Tryouts

Bucks County Sr Boys’ Keystone Tryouts will be held at 6pm on Monday, July 15th (moved back from July 1 due to conflicts), on the grass fields across from War Memorial Field at Central Bucks West. Matt Coverdale (CB West) and Mike Sharman (CB South) are the coaches. The Games will be played July 27-28 at Penn State University. All players that attend the tryout should bring a waiver (attached), a $25.00 check made to the “EPLCA” and a numbered reversible pinnie. Please let the coaches know in advance that you will be attending via email, in your reply include (Name, Position, Graduation Year, School). Youth Tryouts

Philly U11 World Lacrosse Games 2014 tryouts registration has begun. There will be between two and four tryouts held in late May and early June for the team. The team will be announced in mid-June and then begin participating in June of 2014. The team will begin practices on June 2, 2014 and participate in three local tournaments that month to prepare for the World Games (July 10-12 for U11 and July 10-19 for the entire tourney). To be eligible, players must be born on or after 9/1/2002. The team will have 24 players and four coaches. The cost to be on the team is TBA. Current sponsors include Lacrosse International, Kelly Sports, Competitive Edge and Hannum’s Harley-Davidson. Anyone interested in sponsoring the team should contact Tommy Hannum at 610-639-5737 or tbhdlx@aol.com. The tryouts cost $20 and the deadline for registration is May 19, 2013. Cradle Lacrosse Summer Programs: Boys & Girls ages 4-8 years old. Cradle Lacrosse is designed for boys and girls ages 4-8 years old who are new to the game of lacrosse. As parents ourselves, we believe in fun, inexpensive, age-appropriate programs for our littlest players. We provide all the lacrosse equipment and have developed a Cradle curriculum focusing on building confidence, as kids learn how to cradle, scoop, catch and throw. Summer Showcase camps

Lehigh Valley Showcase for Rising sophomores (2016s), July 24th – 26th. This showcase camp is designed to provide rising/repeating high school sophomores from all over the country with advance skill development in a highly competitive tournament style-playing environment. The showcase will also enable the athletes to display their skill in front of college coaches from Division I, II, and III teams. These coaches will be invited to act as instructors as well as recruiters. Off the fields athletes will take part in strength and speed training clinics (results will be available to take home after camp), recruiting and academic seminars, and a leadership character-building seminar.

August 4: “Last Chance Showcase” at St. Joseph’s University, Grades 9 through 11 (Class of 2014-16), 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Price: $115. Description: The Last Chance Showcase is an opportunity to for high school players to get one final look before the end of the summer recruiting period. With the NCAA recruiting quiet period beginning the day after camp, this is literally your “Last Chance” to be seen before summer recruiting screeches to a halt. This event is designed for elite players who have a specific interest in SJU, or simply those who simply want to get in front of college coaches one more time before the end of the season. The camp will be staffed entirely with DI, DII and DIII coaches who are looking for one more glimpse of high school talent before the start of the school year.

Summer Tournaments

The 6th Annual Patriot Games will be held July 20-21 on 23 fields at three venues in Bucks County.

U13 & U15 Team Needed for 6th Annual Patriot Games Summer Lacrosse Showcase & Festival. The Patriot Games is looking for one U13 team and one U15 team to round out each bracket. All teams play as total of five games – three games of pool play on Saturday, July 20th, and two games of playoffs (or consolation games) on Sunday, July 21st. Please do so ASAP, as these slots will be filled on a first come first served basis. Come join over 210 other teams from 11 states and Canada that are registered and ready to compete in U9, U11, U13, U15, JV and VAR brackets. The Patriot Games is an Official Qualifying Tournament for the Dick’s Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions. The top finishers in selected divisions will receive bids to compete against elite teams from around the country in the national championship in Wesley Chapel, Florida in January 2014. As a first year event last year, the Brandywine Classic hosted 65 boys and girls teams from the surrounding region. Teams are guaranteed a minimum of four games, either Saturday or Sunday with the opportunity to earn the Brandywine Classic crown. American Indoor Lacrosse Association (AILA): Groundbreaking summer camp experience. AILA is presenting summer camps with both INDOOR and OUTDOOR training! Camps are designed for U11, U13 and U15 players.

In|Crosse is AILA’s proprietary platform that leverages the integration and convergence of indoor lacrosse with the field game. Developed by Johnny Mouradian, AILA’s President and Philadelphia Wing’s GM/Head Coach, In|Crosse begins with learning the bio mechanics, principles and tactics of indoor lacrosse. Description: The Malvern Prep lacrosse camp is player-focused and uses a comprehensive teaching progression to serve the needs of beginning, intermediate and older, less experienced players. Team21 Knights Lax Camp, a faith-based summer lacrosse camp July 15-18, 9 a.m.-noon, at Delaware County Christian Elementary in Devon. This camp is for boys entering grades 3 through 8 and runs from 9 a.m. to noon each day. Experience Necessary? Team21 Knights Lax Camp is designed for both brand new as well as experienced players.

Who is it for? The Team21 Lax Camp is designed for both Catholic and Protestant young men, as well as those who have little or no religious background. Our Objective is • Through instruction, drills and live play, our objective is to help each camper develop their lax skills so as to more thoroughly enjoy the game of lacrosse; • Through the use of daily stories, our objective is to capture the imaginations of our campers with the hope of helping them too get to know, and enjoy and relate to God more meaningfully; * Through the mentoring by HS players, our objective is to celebrate each and every camper, regardless of size, speed, skill or experience; • Through the use of fun games and activities, our objective is to help each of our campers to make new friends, to have fun and to simply enjoy themselves.

John Nostrant’s Summer Lacrosse Camp, July 21st – 24th, 9 a.m.-3 p.m; hosted by YSC. The camp focuses on developing the fundamentals for players of all ages along side of YSC’s state-of-the art ADT (Athletic Development Training in Wayne) and mental skills training (sport psychology) with YSC’s world-class staff. The camp is structured for kindergarten through rising eighth graders, and features instruction from the best high school and college players in the area. The camp stresses both individual and team concepts while creating a fun and competitive atmosphere. The ADT training will help to develop each athlete’s agility, balance, and coordination – the foundational athletic skills. The Sports Psychology sessions will teach athletes how best to develop their mental skills, and will focus on control and maximizing performance. In addition to his previous three camps that will be held at Eastern University and the Haverford School, three former Haverford School standouts will run his fourth camp at YSC: Kyle Wharton, Will Scudder and Mike Rufo. The YSC Facility is a 90,000 sq. ft. indoor and outdoor athletic facility offering multiple state of the art synthetic Sprinturf fields, an ADT high performance fitness center and other first-class amenities to create the ultimate lacrosse training complex located on County Line Road in Wayne. Campers need to bring a lunch and something to drink. Cost of the camp is $400.00 which includes the ADT and Sports Psychology training. Holy Ghost Prep Summer Lacrosse Camp for boys aged 8 to 14, July 22-26. This full day camp is run by Holy Ghost Prep coach Ryan Tessler (St. Joseph’s University graduate). The cost is $200. Counselors will include Holy Ghost players, and HGP alumni that are playing or have played at the Division 1 and 3 levels. One of the counselors will be GHP alum Brett Manney (Univ of Delaware, NXT coach) of the Rochester Rattlers (MLL) and Philadelphia Wings (NLL). The camp is devised to develop skills on the offensive and defensive end of the field. Counselors are specialized to teach skills specifically for goalies, face-offs and wing play. The camp will offer competitions, special giveaways and a great experience on the HGP Campus.

Millon Lacrosse Camp for boys aged 8 to 17 on July 28-Aug. 1 at George School in Newtown. The camp is run by US Lacrosse National Hall of Fame inductee and former Philadelphia Wings NLL champion Mark Millon, who has been running camps on the East Coast for 19 years. Merrill is a world-renowned player known for his run & gun style of play. He is the Lacrosse Director at The Hill Academy in Toronto, Canada and currently serves as the head coach of the Canadian Under 19 Men’s National Team.

The 2nd annual Philly Style Lacrosse Camp at Chestnut Hill College, July 29-Aug. 2, Ages: 8-18 – Cost: $525 for Overnight & $425 for Day Campers. Brian “Doc” Dougherty (Episcopal Academy grad) and Drew Adams (Springfield-Delco, Penn State) head a list of elite coaches. Rounding out the coaching staff at this year’s camp will be Kevin Keenan (Springfield-Delco), a former Major League Lacrosse goalie with the Philadelphia Barrage, stand out University of Maryland goalie Niko Amato (La Salle) and Penn State University’s outstanding junior goalie Austin Kaut (Springfield-Delco).

The Philly Style Lacrosse Camp is a unique four-day camp specifically designed towards goalie play and teaching the Dougherty and Adams “Philly Style” of playing between the pipes. Over the four-day camp, youth and high school players will learn cutting edge goal tending techniques to improve their level of play through goalie specific drills and game scenarios in addition to seeing hundreds of shots each day.

Goalies will learn how to stop the ball from some of the best goalies in the world.. Keenan, Amato and Kaut will lead drill as goalies see live shots, watch them-selves on video, chalk-talk, drills and demonstrations. Attackmen and Middies will learn how to score & refine their shot from current NCAA Coaches and Players. Overnight and Extended Day Campers will learn on the field but have fun off the field as well, with access to Game Rooms, Lounges and the campus Pool (bring your suit and towel).Overnight campers will get to stay in AIR CONDITIONED dorms and have three meals a day on campus. Fall Showcase

The National Showcase a one-day boy’s lacrosse teaching and recruiting event at Germantown Academy November 10, 2013. The National Showcase will feature the top high school freshman and sophomore boy’s lacrosse players (2016 & 2017) in the country. The unique format will include speed and agility testing, a teaching component from college coaches and showcase games all in front of premier college lacrosse programs.
