Polish post issued a heart shaped, vibrantly coloured postage stamp to mark 24th Grand Finale of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
The Grand Finale of GOCC takes place on second Sunday of January every year in Poland.
The Grand Finale is an extraordinary huge music event organised across each Polish city to raise money for hospital equipment.
About the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (GOCC)
The Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity is one of the biggest non-governmental charity organizations in Poland, founded in 1993 to provide medical equipment to public hospitals in order to protect health and save children’s lives.
The Grand Finale is organized every year in numerous cities in Poland by volunteers and the biggest event which takes place at Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw is managed by the GOCC itself to raise fund for medical aids.
Many Polish artists participate to support this beautiful cause and thousands of volunteers help to make it possible.
It is a nationwide, all day long event full of surprises, sponsored by many Polish and worldwide companies.
Lots of volunteers wander through the streets, collect money from people in a special cans which are labelled with a red heart and give them heart-shaped stickers as a ‘thank you’.
Through these mega events the GOCC have raised over $139 million for various medical aids.
The theme of 24th Grand Finale
Every year, the Grand Orchestra of Christmas Charity Foundation selects a detailed aim, or “theme” of its fundraiser.

Buying medical equipment for pediatric wards and providing decent medical care for seniors
The 24th Grand Finale is once again devoted to pediatrics and geriatrics with focus on the needs of basic care units, which will make it possible to purchase even more equipment.
The mega event is supported by 120 000 volunteers who register and run around 1500 Finale Centres all over Poland to collect the fund.
The grand event of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity ends with the so called ‘light to heaven’, a breathtaking firework show held at 8 p.m in every city.
