Nintendo has no plans to release a full Pokémon game anytime soon, so a number of enterprising developers have tried to fill the void (and reap the monetary rewards). The latest of the bunch to announce a Poké-clone is Prodigious Works, whose upcoming Duel Revolution looks like a game straight out of the DS era. It even uses the tag line “Can you catch them all?”

The game will be available for free sometime in early 2015, with new content scheduled to come out every three months.

Of course, it’s one thing to clone the look of a Pokémon game, but it’s another thing entirely to set up a series of interlocking systems that make a game fun to play — even if you’re just mimicking the work of a developer as talented as Nintendo. Whether Duel Revolution will be able to capture the magic of Nintendo’s acclaimed franchise remains to be seen.

If you’re into this sort of thing, you can check out the developer’s Facebook page or Twitter page, where you’ll find loads of additional information. In the meantime, if you want your fix of Pokémon on iOS, you can grab Pokémon TCG Online here for free.
