There is nothing I like better than a great fitting shoe that is comfortable, fashionable and functional. I found all three with the Skechers Flex Appeal New Rival. A few months back, I reviewed the Skechers Skech-Air Inspire. Appropriately named, the New Rivals shoes really do “rival” the comfort and style of their sister shoe. I used to think Skechers only made “fashion” or “casual” shoes, but I am quite impressed with the athletic shoes I have tried.

I have picky feet. I blister easily, my arches ache, every bone in my foot has the potential to be rubbed the wrong way in a new shoe. The Skechers Flex Appeal New Rivals went on like an old slipper. You know that pair that your feet just LOVE to be in. Right out of the box, these shoes felt amazing! I wore them with bare feet around the house for a while and could not believe the comfort. I’m sure it’s due to the memory foam insoles (just divine) as well as the Skech-knit unique fabric upper (nearly seemless – LOVE!).

Next, I hit the treadmill (with socks this time). The Skechers Flex Appeal shoes performed quite well for power walking at a variety of incline levels. The flexible sole created a very comfortable stride with no discomfort above the lower foot where shoes can sometimes wrinkle if they are not super flexible like these. I’d likely stick to a more structured shoe for running, but I’m sure more minimalist runners would love this shoe. I think it’s great for cross training too!

My next test was dog walking around the neighborhood. With the light and flexible shoe, I was concerned that I might feel bumps, rocks, etc., causing an uncomfortable walk, but this was not the case. I think my dog was jealous. LOL! This was at a rather quick, power-walk, speed as well.

I’ve also used these Skechers Flex Appeal New Rivals for some indoor workouts alternating standing and floor work. They provide good traction and a solid foundation for exercises with weights, resistance bands, as well as equipment free moves.

Here are the key features from the Skechers website:
