I am so excited to announce that I’m an official LG G3 Beauty Blogger. This has given me the opportunity to experience, and fall in love with, a new phone that I can share my thoughts on with you. As a die hard Apple gal this is an opportunity I would have never given myself the chance experience otherwise so thank you LG! I almost didn’t attend the event as I was THAT sure there was no way I could be swooned away from my beloved iPhone. Who knew I could fall in love with an Android! Not only that, but I will also be offering you, my readers, the opportunity to win an LG G3 of your very own! Stay tuned for the giveaway announcement next week.

Today I am going to share with you info on the LG G3 as well as more details on my favourite features of the phone. The first thing you will notice when you pick up the new LG G3 is the killer screen. It has a 5.5″ Quad HD (2560 x 1440) screen with 538 pixels per inch clarity. I am loving this big, crisp screen. I don’t even know how I’ve been functioning surfing the internet, reading emails, etc. on my old iPhone 5. I have found myself even able to do some work on my phone in a pinch which was almost impossible to do before thanks to the generous screen size. I will admit I always thought these larger phones were a little ridiculous and would be awkward to operate but boy was I wrong.

The LG G3

The slim design is actually quite easy to hold. The ONLY buttons you will find on this phone are on the back in the place where your index finger naturally rests when holding your phone. So much more natural than front, side, and top buttons and also gives the phone an incredibly sleek, sexy look.

This is my first experience with an Android phone. While it is certainly an adjustment I find the Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 801 Quad-Core Processor to run really quickly and smoothly and I haven’t experienced any issues. Plus I LOVE how long my battery lasts. I had an iPhone 5, and I know the 6 is supposed to be better, but the short battery life was always a nuisance. The LG G3 lasts all day with no issues and even well into the second day. Plus when I do go to charge it it charges quickly.

The colour of the phone is a brushed metallic black painted finish on plastic. There is only a small band of the finish on the bottom front of the phone. The rest is gorgeous screen. An absolute must with this phone is the LG G3 Quick Circle Case. It is a  folio “book” style flip cover case and when the Quick Circle Case feature is enabled on your phone you have quick access to a customizable clock and certain apps through the circle window on the front of the case without actually having to open the case. You can take a quick photo, listen to music, and more. You can also get a quick view of your notifications. This case is so sleek that I actually thought it was part of the phone when I was first introduced to the LG G3!

One thing that makes this phone really stand out for me is the camera. It has a 13 MP OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization) camera. It has a floating lens that steadies the shot for sharp, focused images and the advanced sensor lets more light in meaning I am getting MUCH better low light pics than I’ve ever had with a phone before. There is also a dual LED flash that results in clear bright photos.  I don’t have to muck around with a bunch of settings to get great shots. The laser focus also gives me amazing shots when I’m trying to photograph things in motion. I was joking around at the LG G3 Beauty Blogger event because every shot I tried to take with my old iPhone came out blurry while the G3 pics would be focused. I swore they cursed me to make it more noticeable it was that dramatic. You can also touch the screen to focus and shoot with a single touch. Really handy. Oh and you can bring up the camera anytime by pressing and holding the down volume button for quick pics on the fly.

There is also a Magic Focus feature that you can enable that takes 5 quick snaps of an image and lets you adjust the focal point later to mimic depth of focus effects. Great for product shots to upload to Instagram!

Whether you are a fellow beauty blogger, or a selfie queen, there are SO MANY features about the LG G3 to love.

Selfie cams don’t have flashes so taking selfies out at night with your friends, or other low light situations, can result in dark, useless pics. With the LG G3 you can use the Soft Light feature to illuminate your face for the perfect flattering light for your shot even at night. Love it!

The other thing I am so in love with is that I no longer have to contort my arm and hand in an awkward way to take a shot. There are two features that make taking selfies more effortless and natural:

With the Hand Gesture Shutter you simply hold up your hand for a second until the camera recognizes it and then make a fist. This will commence a 3 second countdown to your shot.

You can also take a photo with the Cheese Shutter feature which is a series of voice commands including LG, Cheese, Smile, and my favourite; Whisky. Whisky happens to be my drink of choice so it is like this phone was made for me. I get such a kick out of showing people how I take a picture just by saying my favourite drink and I didn’t even have to set it up. It was a default command. <3

My sad attempt at showing Hand Gesture feature in action. If you squint you’ll see the countdown timer at 1.

Probably the best selfie feature is the LG G3’s built in Beauty Tool feature. When you are taking a selfie there is a slider at the bottom of the screen that you can adjust the strength that it will  automatically airbrush your image for the most flattering result. No need for selecting a filter in Instagram or messing around with an app. It blurs pores and wrinkles for stunning selfies. Here is a slightly horrifying picture to show off the feature. I took it quite close up so you could really see the difference. I also had forgotten to apply mascara yet. Oops!

I was worried about how I would be able to easily operate such a large phone since I have very small hands. Thankfully there are lots of features that allow you to customize the phone for easier operation like adjustable keyboards and a One Hand Operation setting that shifts things like the keyboard and knock code entry to one side of the phone. Here is a pic beside my iPhone 5 for size comparion.

Some more great features include:

Knock Code – For password security you can set up a Knock Code on your phone which is a 3- 8 point pattern you create in 4 quadrants on your phone. There are over 80,000 possible patterns! What I love is unlike most lock codes that require you entering numbers on a very specific part of your screen the Knock Code is very flexible. You can be quite messy in where you enter it and how much screen space you cover doing so and it still recognized your code. SO much easier and quicker. I never used the lock code on my iPhone because I found it a pain in the butt but the Knock Code is so easy I don’t mind having it enabled at all and I finally can carry around a secure phone.

Guest Mode – If you’re a parent you know kids are always wanting on your phone to play. Even if they have their own devices sometimes you find yourself out somewhere with time to kill and the request always comes. With this I can just throw my phone in Guest Mode and not worry about them getting into, or seeing, something they shouldn’t.

Smart Notice – A cool built in feature that provides a dashboard of sorts on your home screen with things like weather updates and reminders of missed calls you’ve yet to return or frequently used #’s to add to contacts. It even gives suggestions for how to dress or giving extra commute time given the weather forcast.

I also have to give a special shout out to Her Majesty’s Pleasure in Toronto where LG held the LG G3 Beauty Blogger Campaign event. This place is AMAZING. If you are looking for THE spot to have a fabulous girls night then this is it! Imagine having pampering manicures, pedicures, and more while sipping on fantastic cocktails. It’s a beauty boutique, spa, and bar all in one. HEAVEN!

The pedicure stations at HMP. So cute!

Well I think I have rambled on enough for today but make sure to stay tuned for a chance to win your very own LG G3 so you can start capturing the most fabulous selfies!
