Giorgio Armani Armani/Privé Encens Satin eau de parfum ($265/100ml) Oriental Spicy – Woody amber spicy scent. The allure of incense illuminated with spices, then rounded with woods and resinous accents. Starts off very strongly of woods and incense but warms on the skin revealing more of the amber becoming more feminine while still unisex. More of a skin scent. Wears very close to the skin with moderate longevity. The bottle is stunning. Matte black adorned with a blue marbled top.
Key notes: Golden Frankincense of northern Somalia, everlasting flower, benzoin
Other notes: Cardamom, ginger, elemi, cistus, sparkling Cedar, Patchouli, ambery woods, smooth frankincense MD + frankncense resinoid
Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium eau de parfum ($89/50ml | $118/90ml) – Oriental Spicy Gourmand – Vanilla, coffee, and white floral scent. Vanilla and coffee sweet deliciousness mixed with white floral jasmine and a hint of spiciness. Interesting, sexy, and evolving on my skin for hours. I love the sparkling black glam rock and roll bottle. Moderate sillage and longevity. Available Hudson’s Bay now and Sephora late November 2014.

Calvin Klein Reveal eau de parfum ($85/50ml | $110/100ml) – Floral Woody Musk – Woody, powdery, musky. A sensual oriental reminiscent of sea salt and sun-kissed skin. The combination of salt with sweet powdery iris and the sultry warm base makes this scent incredibly sexy. I only wish it would last longer on my skin as I find myself wanting to reapply this several times throughout the day to continue to experience the sexy goodness. The bottle is very unique but a fingerprint magnet!

Estee Lauder Modern Muse Chic ($66/30ml | $90/50ml | $115/100ml) – Floral Woody Musk. Vivid Florals and Ebony Woods. I get mostly the middle notes with this scent. A feminne white floral scent with touches of woody notes, musk, and vanilla. Very chic and sophisticated. It is a soft, subtle scent that wears quite close to the skin. I adore the navy bow with gold studs on the bottle. Such great packaging.

Jimmy Choo Starts eau de parfum ($75/60ml) Chypre Gourmand – A sweet warm citrus scent. Limited edition Sephora exclusive. This is a delicious mix of candied orange and toffee with the right amount of woodiness that balances it into a sexy warm scent rather than just cloying and sweet. Heavy sillage and excellent longevity. The rose gold lacquered bottle is lovely.
Top: Candied orange, Tiger orchid
Heart: Toffee
Base: Sandalwood, patchouli
Givenchy Dahlia Divin eau de parfum ($65/30ml | $$90/50ml) Chypre Floral. White floral woody scent. The sweetness of the plum in the opening is mostly lost on my skin. I get a lovely white floral with a hint of woody notes that take on a stronger presence after an hour or so. My husband hates jasmine, while I love it, so this is another scent reserved for times he is not around to complain.
Top: Mirabella plum
Heart: Sambac jasmine, white flowers
Base: Sandalwood, vetiver, patchouli
Giorgio Armani Si Intense eau de parfum ($80/30ml | $105/50ml | $145/100ml) – Chypre Fruity – Rich sexy fruity floral. Fruity without being sweet. I don’t know quite how to describe this. I find it quite unique and so good. Sexy, sophisticated, luxurious. I am in love with it. The black and gold bottle is so sexy. I love how they took the gold detailing even to the bottom edge of the bottle.
Top: Cassis, black currant, mandarin, bergamot, freesia
Heart: May rose, neroli absolute, davana and osmanthus
Base: Patchouli, vanilla, ambroxan, woody notes
Prada Candy Florale eau de toilette ($85/50ml | $115/80ml) Floral Fruity Gourmand. Fresh floral scent. The caramel and benzoin of the original are very subtle in this new version. Barely detectable on my skin. I get a lovely fresh peony floral with hints of honey. Soft scent with moderate longevity. The packaging is very similar to the original.
Top: limoncello sorbet
Heart: peony
Base: Benzoin, musk, caramel, honey
Dior j’adore Eau de Parfum ($70/30ml | $94/50ml | $125/100ml) – Floral Fruity – Dior may not have a new fragrance release for Fall but they are re-promoting the classic j’adore edp with a beautiful and powerful new video campaign with Charlize Theron. This is such a luxurious and femine scent. It’s no wonder it has become a favourite of so many women.
Top: Ylang-Ylang, mandarin
Heart: Damascena Rose, plum
Base: Sambac Jasmine, blackberry, musk
Repetto Repetto for Women eau de toilette ($22/10ml | $59/50ml | $79/80ml) Fruity Floral. Floral rose scent with touch of fruitiness. Elegant, delicate, and refined just like a ballerina. Repetto began crafting ballet shoes and has expanded to dance shoes and wear, leather goods, and clothing. This is their first fragrance. Very pretty and feminine.
Top: Pear and cherry blossom
Heart: rose, orange blossom
Base: Amber, woody notes, vanilla pod
Burberry My Burberry Eau de Parfum ($98/50ml | $135/100ml) – Floral – Floral scent with a hint of sweetness and spiceyness. Burberry considers it it’s most significant fragrance release. Inspired by a London garden after the rain. A true embodiment of the brand taking it’s lead from Burberry’s oconic trench. My Burberry is an absolutely delightful fresh floral scent. This fragrance is one that can be worn year round, day and night. The bottle is inspired by the Burberry trench. The cap by the button, and the honey beige colour of the scent by the trench colour. The ribbon is made of the same fabric as the iconic trench.
Top: Sweet pea, bergamot
Heart: Geranium, golden quince, freesia
Base: Damask and centifolia roses, patchouli
Halle Berry Wild Essence ($35/30ml) – Floral Fruity. A citrus floral scent. I don’t detect the fruit notes very much on on my skin. I get a very floral scent with just a hint of citrus and amber warmth. I do enjoy florals so this was nice albeit a little strong.
Top: Sicilian bergamot, black currant, mandarin
Heart: fressia, linden blossom, cotton flower, white roses
Base: Musk, white patchouli, crytal amber, sandalwood
Lancome La Vie Est Belle L’Absolu de Parfum ($130/40ml) – Floral Fruity Gourmand – Sweet Warm Woody scent. It emphasizes the sweet notes of the original La Vie Est Belle. The very essence of Lancôme’s iconic first tasty iris is transformed into an exceptionally concentrated absolu – one of the most potent in existence today. Pared-down luxury gives rise to pure intensity. I get a sharpness during the opening that I’m not very found of but once it settles on my skin it is a very sweet, warm, opulent scent. It has moderate silage wearing rather close to the skin which is surprising given the strength of the scent. It has incredible longevity. I can still smell it the next morning. The deeper tone of the juice indicates the strengthened quality of the signature sweet tasty iris note. Hudson’s Bay exclusive.
Top: Black currant, pear
Heart: Sweet Iris, orange blossom, jasmine absolute, samascus rose
Base: Tonka bean, praline, cashmere
My favourites so far are Calvin Klein Reveal, Giorgio Armani Si Intense, YSL Black Opium, and Jimmy Choo Stars.
