Pepsi has asked me to write about the grammys and my predictions for who I think will win I’m gonna cut it short to the 3 who I think it’s gonna come down to: Frank Ocean, The Lumineers and Fun.

Best New Artist Nominees are:

Frank Ocean:

I have been a huge fan of Frank since his Lonny Breaux mix tape. For those of you who don’t know about frank ocean I would describe his music as neo-soul so not just r&b but music with a beat.Frank is a highly talented artist and an incredible lyricist who’s names has been on everyone’s lips but he has collaborated with huge artists: Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Kanye, Brandy. His debut mixtape nostalgia, ultra was released in 2011 with chilled-out-vibes.  His debut, Channel Orange was released a week early and when straight to number one within the first week ‘Thinkin Bout You’(highest charted single) and ‘Pyramids’ were the first singles they both were received highly positive reviews. I would love for Frank to win a Grammy I feel he deserves it! Frank Ocean for the Win!

The Lumineers:

If you haven’t heard about these guys I am not surprised because these guys are indie-folk bands who have a simplistic style when it comes to music. They’ve been together since 2005 but I have never heard of this band until a Twining’s kettle advert playing in the background one day. Their debut single: Ho Hey peaked at no.8 in the US and no.3 in the UK.

Fun:

Now these guys have blown up! They have 2 studio albums Aim and Ignite/Some Night and their debut single ‘We Are Young’ was on their seconded studio album which went platinum 5 times over! Their sound has been identified as power-pop/alternative rock.

Best Urban Contemporary Album:

This is so so difficult to even discuss! Miguel, Frank Ocean (Frocean as I refer to him)and Chris Brown.

Miguel:

Miguel’s ‘Kaleidoscope Dream Album’ is a fusion of pure heaven to be frank… see what I did there? But KD fuses R&B with funk and psychedelic vibes ‘Do You’ and ‘Kaleidoscope Dream’ His lyrics are sensual with humor.

I’ll start with Frank and Miguel:

Miguel and Frocean comparison: Miguel is often compared to Frank Ocean. I would agree with this to an extent but I can detect distinct differences with a Frocean record and a Miguel record. Frank Ocean’s sound consists of interludes including: tape-decks opening and shutting car doors in a free-form flow with soft melodies. Miguel’s sound consist of guitar riffs, with thick bass lines *trippy sounds*

Chris Brown:

Fortune: Peaked at 10 in the Billboard 100. The album was critiqued as Brown sounding good vocally as he’s coming into his own. ‘Turn up the Music’ was the albums lead single the song is an electronic-pop/ dance song. Chris’ new style seems to be r&b/dance with ‘Sweet Love’ peaking at 25 in the US. I think Chris’ attention negative attention has taken a toll on his music turning critiques away automatically. But I do think he’s come far considering and wish him good luck for the Grammy’s!

Which performance am I looking forward to?

Justin Timberlake, Frank Ocean.

Justin’s comeback since the FutureSexLoveSounds album.

I am too excited to hear his new album

Frank Ocean’s huge grammy performance I think he’s gonna perform Forrest Gump as he’s recently shot:
