You won’t have to wait much longer for American Horror Story to be back on TV. The hit horror series officially returns to FX tonight, which means we’ll finally get our first clues as to what the big mystery will be this year.

As frustrated AHS fans well know, despite the copious amounts of spine-tingling trailers we’ve been getting, season 6 still remains shrouded in mystery. Even so, we’ve managed to scour the web to bring you a list of four things you should definitely know about American Horror Story season 6 before you settle in to watch the season premiere!

1. Lady Gaga is officially set to return!

Gaga killed it as the Countess in American Horror Story: Hotel, and it’s clear she made quite an impression on the showrunners. The Mother Monster confirmed in March that she would indeed be returning to AHS for season 6.

“But I can’t promise you how, or when, or anything like that,” said Gaga mysteriously.

Even so, we’ll be excited to see how she gets woven into the plot this year!

2. The series is shaking things up for this coming season.

Showrunner Ryan Murphy is doing his best to make sure this coming season of AHS remains shrouded in mystery, but one thing he did say is that fans should expect the unexpected.

In an interview with EW back in August, Murphy explained that fans should expect a season that is quite different from any they’ve seen in the show’s past.

“The next thing we’re crafting up is very, very different than this,” Murphy told the magazine last summer. “Not smaller. But just not opulent. More rogue and more dark.”

3. Expect to see a familiar Glee alumn amidst the cast.

While many of our favorites like Gaga and Angela Lansbury will be returning for season six, we’ll also be treated to a few familiar faces. One we’re particularly excited for is that of Glee and Quantico star Jacob Artist who has joined the cast of AHS season 6.

Like the plot of this coming season, Artist’s role remains a mystery to fans, but even so, we’re looking forward to seeing him team up with Glee creator Ryan Murphy again, and we can’t wait to see what he brings to the table on AHS!

4. We still have no idea what the season is truly about!

Despite the fact that American Horror Story has been dishing out spine tingling details left and right, fans are still quite in the dark about what this season will entail. That’s because showrunner Ryan Murphy teamed up with FX head of marketing, Stephanie Gibbons to create a series of trailers, some of which have to do with the upcoming season, some of which don’t.

“They went out and made many more trailers than you’ve actually seen for hypothetical seasons of American Horror Story,” explained FX CEO Landgraf at this year’s TCAs. “Different genres, different places. I think they’re really fun and funny and beautifully, artfully made…and a lot of them are accurate. The others are all misdirects.”

American Horror Story season 6 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 10 p.m. on FX.
