You decide what’s bigger news; the fact that Grumpy Cat is getting her own Lifetime movie or that her character will be voiced by Aubrey Plaza.
The grouchy house pet that inspired countless Internet memes has officially gone all Hollywood on us and is starring in her first holiday-themed, made-for-TV movie, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever, due out in November.
And although the frowny-faced feline shows her disdain for pretty much everything, it seems she’s actually pleased with Lifetime’s choice of Aubrey Plaza to play her voice in the film.

Plaza, who is best known for her equally grumpy character, April, on NBC’s Parks and Recreation also tweeted her excitement to the masses in the most fitting way possible; with a Grump Cat meme.

The Hollywood Reporter outlines the plot for the film as a story about a pet-store cat (Grumpy!) that is “perpetually overlooked,” until she meets a 12-year-old girl, Chrystal, whom she can communicate with.
Even though Plaza is a stellar pick for Grumpy’s subconscious, here at People’s Choice, we couldn’t help about wonder about which other actors may have been considered to convey Grumpy’s signature bitterness.
Here are a few more stars we could see voice the meme:
Kaitlin Olson
As the only female cast member on the FX comedy Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Olson has been asked her fair share of bone-headed questions and, like Grumpy, never fails to respond with dry, condensing comedic wit.
Kathy Kinney
After years of playing Mimi, the mean-spirited secretary and arch nemesis of Drew Carey on The Drew Carey Show, taking on Grumpy Cat could spell a career comeback for Kinney.
Sarah Silverman
Her raunchy and real comedic timing is what makes Sarah one of the most famous comedians today. She’d be sure to infuse her signature style into the role.
Jessimae Peluso
The rough and tumble star of MTV’s Girl Code, Jessimae could bring a snarky, “don’t mess with me” attitude to Grumpy’s character.
You can catch Grumpy in her small screen debut when Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever premieres Nov. 29 at 8 p.m. on Lifetime TV .
