The National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) has announced that Dr. Carol J. Ratcliffe, co-Leader of the Alabama Health Action Coalition (AL-HAC), as the recipient of the 2015 Nurse Educator of the Year award. Dr. Ratcliffe currently serves as an associate professor and coordinator of the Health Systems Management and Leadership program at the Ida V. Moffett School of Nursing at Samford University.
“The NBNA is a prestigious national organization with which I’m proud to be a member,” said Ratcliffe. “This award is an honor to receive because I believe the truest measure of success comes through the preparation of my students, the care they provide to their patients, and the leadership principles they apply to make a difference.”
The National Black Nurses Association is a non-profit organization committed to promoting access to high-quality care to minorities and persons of color. Each year, the NBNA recognizes nurses from across the country for their distinguished contributions to the field of medicine. This year, seven recipients were honored during the 43rd NBNA Annual Institute and Conference Aug. 1 in Atlanta, GA.
“We are so proud of Dr. Ratcliffe and the investment she makes in advancing the education of so many nurses in our state,” said Dr. Kathleen Ladner, AL-HAC’s Co-Leader. “Her hard work and dedication sets the standard as both an educator and as a healthcare professional.”
