MEMBERS of St Dogmael’s school council were given a guided tour around County Hall yesterday (Mar 13).

The youngsters were shown around the building by Pembrokeshire County Council Chairman, Councillor Tony Brinsden

They were accompanied by other members of year six together with teacher Helen Morris, LSA Janet Lorenz, school Governor Ann Caygill and member for St Dogmaels, Councillor Mike James.

Highlight of the tour was the chance to sit in the Council chamber where they grilled Cllrs Brinsden and James on a variety of topics including:

How to make their school more eco friendly

How can they get signs to prevent dog owners taking their dogs on to Poppit Sands in the summer and

How they could get some signs put up on their playing fields

“The pupils loved their time in County Hall and I’m grateful to Councillor Brinsden and James for arranging it,” said Helen Morris.

“The tour certainly gives them a better understanding of the democratic process.”

Councillor Brinsden added: “It was a pleasure taking the pupils around the various departments at County Hall.

“They were courteous, attentive and asked some superb questions along the way, some of which were quite difficult to answer!

“I’m sure there are some budding politicians among them and who knows, we may see some of them back in an official capacity in years to come.”
