THE PORT of Milford Haven has confirmed it will be the main sponsor for the Torch Theatre’s Sunset Cinema programme for the next three years.
This will enable the Torch Theatre to continue with its popular outdoor cinema screenings at venues across Pembrokeshire, including Milford Marina where ‘Back To The Future’ was broadcast to a 500-strong audience in 2015.
Neil Jenkins, Destination Director at the Port, commented “Our partnership with the Torch Theatre is very important to us and we are happy to support them in order to deliver a successful programme of outdoor cinema screenings for the next three years for the whole county to enjoy. Events such as outdoor cinemas are key to future developments at Milford Marina to transform it into a vibrant destination renowned for arts, culture and leisure activities.”
Artistic Director at the Torch Theatre, Peter Doran, said “Thanks to this partnership, summer cinema visits no longer have to be inside a stuffy black box. Following an experimental couple of years we have now purchased the necessary equipment to make this an annual event in Pembrokeshire. Watching a movie under the stars in some of the county’s most stunning locations on a balmy summer evening is a near-perfect experience and now families can enjoy the experience for years to come. This is a great example of two local companies working in partnership to benefit the local community.”
In addition to the cinema screenings, Milford Marina will also play host to an exciting outdoor performance by Motionhouse and Nofit State Circus, arranged by the Torch Theatre. The exciting collaboration ‘Block’ will take place on Mackerel Quay on August 3.
