Some historical and contemporary techniques
used in goldwork embroidery will be shown, with both 100% metal threads and
those with a fibre core. A great variety of 100% metal threads will be displayed.
You will be amazed how jewel-like goldwork embroidery can be when using the
100% metal threads. The fibre-core metal threads are mostly used for what is
called “laid work”. This technique and its permutations will be demonstrated,
and it too has a glorious appearance.
Goldwork embroidery looks daunting but really
is not so difficult. Mary will share her tricks of the trade with you.
Limited spaces are available on a first-come,
first-served basis.
