Toronto, Canada – June 19, 2014 – Peace Point Rights and leading fighting sports media agency Fighting Spirit announce an international distribution partnership for the feature length documentary Takedown: the DNA of GSP (1×90’), an in-depth, unprecedented look into the world of former three time UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre (GSP). Peace Point Rights has worldwide rights (excluding Canada and U.S. Linear TV rights) to the feature-length documentary and this agreement will see Fighting Spirit represent it on an exclusive worldwide basis for all television, on demand and digital platforms excluding in addition New Zealand, Australia, and Japan.
“This is an immense honor for us as Georges St-Pierre is considered the greatest mixed martial artist of all time,” said Laurent Pourrut, CEO Fighting Spirit. “The agreement shows Peace Point’s trust in our expertise and unique position in the marketplace and this outstanding documentary perfectly complements our portfolio of live events.”
“Takedown: The DNA of GSP is a truly remarkable documentary and we are delighted to have Fighting Spirit, who are acknowledged as the leading experts in the world of fight content, represent the show internationally,” said Les Tomlin, President and CEO Peace Point Entertainment.
This unprecedented all access documentary is an exploration of who GSP is, his life, the motivation behind his career and the strategy used in his MMA fights. Its compelling mix of traditional martial arts, boxing, wrestling and kickboxing, make for a fantastic viewers’ experience bringing GSP from sport’s superstar level to living legend. It is often said that the greatest athletes are the most natural/instinctive and to illustrate that point in a spectacular way, footage of special animal photography transposed against GSP in the Octagon will illustrate a poetic approach to photographing this sport.
Takedown: The DNA of GSP is produced as a co-venture between Jimmy Lee Inc., Triplex Films Inc. and Upside Up Media Group Inc., and co-directed by Peter Svatek (Epiphany Prize winning, Christmas Choir) and Kristian Manchester, executive creative director and partner of Sid Lee, the internationally renowned ad agency, which was named one of the five top agencies worldwide by Forbes Magazine.
