Depending on who’s talking, there are about 196 countries in the world today. If I didn’t spend so much on coffee, San Francisco Bay Area rent, and student loans – all of which are non-negotiable – I would probably see more of it. Besides the United States, I spent four years of my childhood in Spain and two and a half years of my adult life in Japan. Last year, I had the opportunity to visit Isamu Noguchi’s Moerenuma Park in Hokkaido. Though a manmade project with plenty of greenery, it felt as though I was in an alternate universe.
