Author Cami Checketts
Cami Checketts is married and the proud mother of four future WWF champions. Sometimes between being a human horse, cleaning up magic potions, and reading Bernstein Bears, she gets the chance to write fiction.
Cami graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Exercise Science. Cami teaches strength training classes at her local rec and shares healthy living tips on her fitness blog: http://fitnessformom.blogspot.com.
Cami and her family live in the beautiful Cache Valley of Northern Utah. During the two months of the year it isn't snowing, she enjoys swimming, biking, running, and water-skiing.
Where were you born and where do you call home?
I was born in Clifton, Idaho. 136 residents (and we count a few who have moved up the hill to the cemetery). My boys think it's hilarious that Mom is from I-di-ho. Haha. My husband and I call Smithfield, Utah home. Smithfield boasts a few more residents than Clifton but it still smells like manure. Would've hated to leave that behind.
Do you have plans for a new book? Is this book part of a series?
I'm plotting the third in the Run series to finish up Cassidy's adventures and polishing a conspiracy thriller entitled, Blog This, about a Mom who blogs against violent video games and is rewarded with an assassin knocking on her door. It really helps me sleep peacefully at night.
What or who inspired you to write? And how long have you been writing?
My mom. After the birth of my second son I was fighting postpartum depression and napping my life away. My mom came to visit, pulled me out of bed and told me to "go write a book." I started writing that day and haven't had time for a nap since. Ten years.
Have you ever read a book more than once?
Only the Bible. Okay, I did re-read Shadow Song by Dorothy Keddington as an adult just to see if it was still amazing. It was.
Is there a particular movie that you preferred over the book version?
The Count of Monte Cristo. I loved the book, but I'm a romantic and I wanted Edmund and Mercedes to be together! The movie was amazing and the ending was perfect for me.
What book are you currently reading and in what format (ebook/paperback/hardcover)?
Line of Fire by Rachel Ann Nunes. Paperback. It is the last book in the Autumn Rain series. I have loved that series.
Are there any new Authors that have grasped your interest and why?
I found E.M. Tippetts through a free Amazon download of Someone Else's Fairytale and have loved her books.
What is the best advice that you have ever been given when it comes to writing?
If you love writing, never give up. If you're writing to get wealthy, walk away now.
