Dear Pweebers,

Blogging was originally intended to be a pastime for people; more like keeping an online copy diary where you pen your thoughts, record your activities and share it with the world.

As blogging began to bring in financial benefits, some bloggers began to write and publish anything  just to boost traffic on their sites and rake in more money from adverts and campaigns.

When I started Peace Ben Williams Blog, I wanted it to be a one-stop information portal for trending news, fashion, lifestyle and soul-searching/inspiring articles and stories. I also wanted it to depict the fact that I am a writer and what I write about could bring about a positive change in the lives of individuals who visit my blog.

I had a seemingly clear vision of what I wanted PBWB to be about but over the months, I sort of travelled out of my mission zone. Readers wanted to read more of gossip stories.

In the spirit of the ‘customer’ is always right, I gave them what they wanted. I scoured the entire internet for local and international gossip. I realised the readership wasn’t increasing as much as I thought it would and worse still, I didn’t go to bed sleeping well again.

As I pulled the covers to retire each night, I asked myself:

“Did I deliver a rich content today that someone could take home, ponder on and live with for the better?”

You may argue that a little gossip doesn’t hurt and I may agree with you, but wouldn’t we rather want to read stories that could enrich lives? Things we can leave behind for our children to learn and be proud of.

So I went on some form of soul-searching and decided to restructure the content you read on my blog, you’ll still get your gossip news no doubt, but you’ll also be reading more of real life issues, stories of people who’ve tread the same path with us…how they goofed, how they succeeded and how we can be better human beings.

Deevas, I still have love for you all. I shall deliver those articles that will celebrate and enhance you. Originally, my concept of being a deeva wasn’t to set yansh and take picture or just a pretty face. My concept is a woman with beauty, brains and achievement in the midst of harsh circumstances. A woman who looks good whether she slaps on some makeup or not. A woman who can exude this same goodness to those she comes across.

I’m no longer impressed with publishing tacky stories just to garner readership. If I have only one person who agrees with me then so be it. I feel in my spirit that I’m steering on the right course. So long as I believe in myself and what I do, everything shall fall in place in due time.

This is how I feel each time I read these five categories of news on the internet…like Nene Leakes in this gif image…

Sadly I too have been guilty of publishing some of them but no more! Please read on to see the 5 types of news you may never get to read on Peace Ben Williams Blog and why…

1.  MAHEEDAH

This is one young woman whose story I’ve never bothered featuring on my blog. This is because I believe Maheedah is suffering from some sort of personality disorder. Some of you with typical African mentality may even like to think that she’s possessed. I wouldn’t argue with you!

From the stories I hear, she was a former prostitute. Then she became born-again, became a gospel singer and got married. Her husband loved and provided her with everything a young woman could desire; this some blogs claim she admitted herself. But she kept getting this ‘pull’ to go back into prostitution.

Next thing we know, she started posting nude and semi-nude photos of herself on her Instagram page. The photos of her above in red and wearing a Santa cap were taken in December, 2013. According to her the photos were a Christmas gift to her fans.

There’s something about women getting naked in photos. It gets the guys (and even some girls) drooling…some of the girls might be disgusted about it then yet a few would be hating on the nude woman’s hot body.

My concern here is the idea of promoting soft porn on my blog. I know the human mind is naturally filled with curiosity. Love or hate Maheedah, anybody who sees a story about her would naturally want to take a peek.

Instagram suspended her account because her photos were too indecent. But some Nigerian bloggers stalk Maheedah’s Twitter account and other social media just to get fresh nude photos of her to post on their blogs just to boost blog traffic.

The photos below are screenshots from Maheedah’s new video titled, ‘Naija Bad Girl.’ As you can see she has folds and love handles like everyone of us. I don’t care if her body is fit or flabby. All I know is that posting naked photos of Maheedah will do nothing to enrich my life, your life or our daughters lives in many years to come.

It’s the shameless strategy of a woman trying so desperately to gain fame and wealth in the least possible time. It doesn’t matter to her if actions are dignified.

2. NAIJA CELEBS DISPLAYING NEWLY ACQUIRED LATEST CARS, GADGETS & JEWELLERY

Nigerian Celebrities have made the job of armed robbers easier. If you’re an armed robber and you want to hammer sharpily, just follow them on Twitter and Instagram and you could pick your choice of which celeb to visit for the night.

From gold-plated iPhone 5s, to gold, diamond and ruby trinkets to rolex wristwatches. They have made themselves bait for robbers not to mention the sheer vanity and tackiness in manner they display their stuff.

Young music artistes pose in front of their cars and bloggers scoop off the photos from social media with eye-catching captions like:

Davido Acquires Latest Mercedes G-Wagon

Kcee Flaunts New Range Rover Sports

Tonto Dikeh Displays Gold-Plated Pistol On Instagram

Jude Okoye shows Off His Collection Of Firearms…Don’t F**k With Him!

While I’m happy that they can afford to buy and flaunt these things, I fail to see how it’ll help the majority of Nigerians who drink garri with bonga fish.

Angelina Jolie was given a very expensive diamond engagement ring by her fiancé, Brad Pitt. As a UN ambassador, she has to travel to impoverished country to cater to the needs of the less privileged. She took off that ring and wore a simple engagement band because she felt it would be quite insensitive to flaunt such an expensive ring in their faces.

Our Nigerian celebs seem to miss the fact that being a star doesn’t mean you should flaunt wealth in such a brazen manner…we already know you’re rich. Being a star means, you’re to use your star power to change lives for the best.

If I see the need to share stories of celebs new homes, cars or jewellery; I shall do so for a good reason.

3. ACTRESS ‘X’ RELEASES “HOT NEW PHOTOS”

Nollywood actress, Ruth Kadiri

Most times, I see captions like this, it turns out those photos are short of disgusting. And the pictures are tacky 99% of the time. The celeb is most likely to be poorly styled or trying so hard to outdo their colleagues by taking too revealing photos of themselves.

Even some male celebs are not left out in doing tacky photo shoots.

All I do is stare and stare at the so called hot photos; hoping to find what’s actually hot about it.

If the photo is hot, I’ll publish but if it’s tacky or hian! You ain’t gonna see it on my blog.

4. COPY & PASTE STORY-STORY

Don’t you just hate it when you visit a blog and you read a story word for word just like what you read in a previous blog? Over the months, as I became a blogger, I’ve come to identify the writing style of some top Nigerian bloggers. Sometimes, I read a story on some website and I go: ‘This is so Linda.’ Turns out that when I double check the blogger lifted the story word for word, punctuation for punctuation from Linda’s blog and without giving due writing credit.

Bloggers have refused to subject their minds to creativity. Rather than bless the reader with the uniqueness of a blogpost, you see so many Linda Ikeji clone blogs that at a time, it’ll feel better smashing my head on a wall than visiting those sites. Copy and Paste Blogging is fast becoming a disgusting trend. I don’t wanna go there.

I however do find the following Nigerian sites I’ve visited quite remarkable and unique:

That1960Chick.Com

BellaNaija.Com

RomanceMeetsLife.Com

SisiYemmie.com

DiaryByEmmy.Com

5. ANY ASS-KISSING, TACKY AND IRRELEVANT NEWS…YOU NAME THEM!

Writing an ass-kissing story on my blog would be like sentencing my blog to eternal damnation. The reason is simple. The main catch for Peace Ben Williams Blog is to ANALYSE every news and happening that’s getting people talking in today’s world.

Now I can’t give an honest analysis if I’ve sold my soul, can I?

My blog won’t be too serious, stiff or boring. It’ll have an interesting take to whatever is happening around you. But after reading it, I can assure you, you won’t feel like you wasted 5 minutes of your life reading it.

Instead it will cause you to think, laugh, get serious and get on the mission of being a change crusader.

Please feel free to tell me I’m talking nonsense. Or you can give me a pat on the back and ginger me to carry on.
