Pavilion Books is a thriving independent London-based publisher specialising in illustrated books and digital content for the UK and all international markets.

We publish around 200 books a year under our range of established imprints; Batsford, Collins & Brown, National Trust, Pavilion, Pavilion Children’s, Portico and Salamander. Our high-profile authors include Oz Clarke, James May and Bruce Parry, and we specialise in managing brand-led publishing programmes with large organisations such as Good Housekeeping and The National Trust. At the core of our business are specialist lists such as wine, naval history, craft, cookery and textile art.

A new exciting vacancy has arisen within the Design department for a Creative Junior Designer. You will be required to produce high quality design work for the beautiful Illustrated Books we publish as well as creating material and designs for Digital and Marketing projects .

This is a very busy and varied role so the ideal candidates will have ideally held a junior designer role for at least a year and now looking to progress their career by taking on a more varied and challenging role.

The ideal candidate:

Be a self- starter who takes responsibility for his/ her projects and takes initiative.

Experienced in meeting tight deadlines for several projects and be able to create templates and house style for books from your own design concepts

Be conscientious and have good time management skills to enable you to keep calm under pressure

Have knowledge and an awareness of high production standards

Have good Artworking, and Retouching/Repro skills

Have an interest in digital publishing and ebooks – it’s an advantage if you have knowledge of digital publishing applications and/or ebook preparation.

It is essential that you have good working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and some knowledge of Quark Xpress would be an advantage.

Salary on offer is up to £20K pa dependent on experience and suitability.
