If you are planning a trip to Jeju, this blog post might help – you will find a downloadable Jeju 4 Day 3 Night (4D3N) Self-Drive Holiday Itinerary and a visual guide of the various attractions we visited here (scroll down for the pictures we took at these places – for the complete collection, check out PassportChop.com Korea Travel Instagram feed and do follow us too!)

Our South Korea Jeju itinerary is designed to be quite a relaxing one (we are not rushing from place to place and experiencing each attraction without rushing through it) and at the same time a fulfilling one (as we got to check out quite a number of fun Jeju attractions especially on Day 2). While we stayed at Jeju for 5 Days 4 Nights, the itinerary we suggested can actually be completed in 4 Days 3 Nights (with you flying back to Seoul on the 4th night) – we decided to take it easy and catch a noon flight on the fifth day.

There were some other random stuff we did that we didn’t include in the itinerary e.g. shopping for Korean snacks at E-mart (a big Korean supermarket near the World Cup stadium at Seogwipo – if you are interested, the GPS coordinate is 7971234; if you are spending more than 30,000 Korean won (about 30 USD) there – remember to get a tax refund form from the E-mart customer service).

How Many Nights to Spend at Jeju?

Driving time from Seogwipo city (where we are staying at Feliz Telcon Hotel) to the furthest part of Jeju island we explored (i.e. Seongsan Ilchungbong – Sunrise Peak) took us about 1 hour 30 minutes and from there to other attractions e.g. Manjanggul Lava Cave is about 20 – 30 minutes.  I do not recommend a 3 Days 2 Nights Jeju trip if this is your first time there as Jeju is a big island and getting around takes time.

Know Exactly Which Museum You Want to Go (Because There Are Multiple Versions of it on Jeju Island!)

Do note that there are quite a number of similar attractions e.g. Teddy Bear Museum vs. Teddy Bear Safari and Alive Museum vs. Trick Art Museum and Loveland vs. Museum of Sex and Health.  We went to the versions that are in bold.

There are also many other themed attractions e.g. chocolate, folk villages (3 versions! 1 Seogwipo version – Jeju Folk Village Museum (제주민속촌박물관) and 2 Jeju city versions – Jeju Folk Museum (제주민속박물관) vs. Jeju Folklore & Natural History Museum (민속자연사박물관))!

Day 1 Jeju Self-Drive Holiday Itinerary (4D3N) – Seogwipo City Area: Jeongbang Waterfall, Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

Arrival at Seoul Incheon Airport from Singapore -> Transfer to Seoul Gimpo Airport (for domestic flight from Seoul to Jeju) by AREX (Airport Railroad Express – do not take the non-stop option which brings you direct to Seoul city centre).

Upon arrival at Jeju airport, look for the KT Kumho car rental counter where you will be shuttled to the KT Kumho office to finish the car rental processes.

See this link for more info on renting a car for self-drive holiday in Jeju and driving around in Jeju.

Feliz Telcon Hotel

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7492008

We stayed in the Seogwipo city centre – a 1.5 hours drive from Jeju airport.  The hotel where we stayed in – Feliz Telcon (about 49 USD per night for a double room) is a basic and clean hotel, located right in the middle of one of Seogwipo’s food streets (lots of restaurants around the area).  This is not a 4 or 5 star hotel but it is very clean and has all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay in Jeju.

Jeongbang Waterfall

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7331530

The first attraction we checked out in Jeju is Jeongbang Waterfall – just 15 minutes drive from Feliz Telcon hotel. Jeongbang waterfall is Asia’s only waterfall that falls into the sea – spectacular! See this link for the Jeongbang Waterfall, Cheonjiyeon Waterfall and Cheonjeyeon Waterfall in the Seogwipo area.

Cheonjiyeon Waterfall

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7331528

Abalone porridge (Jeonbokjuk) – one of Jeju’s local delicacies – cost about $12+ a big bowl! Served at a restaurant by the carpark to Cheonjiyeon Waterfall – see this link for more info on where you can find abalone porridge (Jeonbokjuk) near Cheonjiyeon Waterfall.

Cheonjiyeon waterfall is open til 10pm daily – the waterfall is lit up beautifully at night

There are other Five-Day markets at different parts of Jeju e.g. Jeju City Folk Five-Day Market (Open: 2nd, 7th, 12th, 17th, 22nd, 27th of each month) and Jungmun Rural Five-Day Market (Open: 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd, 28th of each month) and Seongsan Five-Day Market (Open: 1st, 6th, 11th, 16th, 21st, 26th of each month).

Even if you missed the Five-Day markets, you can still check out the markets that are opened daily e.g. Dongmun market and Seogwipo Maeil Olle market.

Mysterious Road

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7103314 (This number is NOT accurate – to get to the road – key in the number for Loveland: 7126988 and then when you are nearing Loveland, follow road signages saying Mysterious Road and follow big tour buses and vans – they will likely be going there)

This is the famous Mysterious Road where water poured on the road appeared to flow uphill and cars (when put on Neutral gear) will roll uphill on these mysterious road. We tried it out and the water do flow uphill and our car did go uphill on its own (without acceleration).

Jeju Loveland

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7126988

Jeju Loveland – a risqué and interesting sex themed museum in Jeju. This is one of the most mild exhibit display in the Loveland park!

Dongmun Market (Jeju City)

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7523001

Like I said above – even if you missed any of the Five-Day Markets, you can still check out the regular markets which are open daily – this Dongmun market being one of the most famous one in Jeju city. Here you can buy Jeju snacks back home!

Dinner at Jeju Ramen Street (Pork Ramen Gogiguksu)

Jeju ramen – also known as gogiguksu; another must try at Jeju (in fact there is a ramen street with many ramen restaurants) – about 7 USD per bowl.

Yongduam Rock (Dragon Head Rock)

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7283918

Our last stop before driving 1.5 hours back to Seogwipo. Yongduam rock – it is supposed to look like a dragon head

Seongsan Ilchungbong (Sunrise Peak)

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7830959 or 7107923

On a hike towards the Jeju Sunrise Peak Seongsan Ilchungbong – abt 20 to 30 minutes hike uphill. Quite a tough climb uphill but there are many rest stops along the way up.

View of Jeju Island from the peak of Seongsan Ilchulbong – nice!

Black pork, tofu and kimchi stew – delicious and satisfying lunch after a morning hike up sunrise peak. Not sure what is the name of the restaurant since it is in Korean but to get there, you can use this GPS coordinate (by phone number): 7841794. For more information on how to use these numbers as GPS coordinates, see this video on using phone numbers of attractions/restaurants in Jeju to find your way around Jeju Island with GPS.

Breakfast at Paris Baguette

Breakfast at Paris Baguette @ Seogwipo Jeju – great coffee and selection of bread and pastries – another French-themed bakery.

Udo Island

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7825671 (This number is NOT accurate – instead, use this number 7843136 which leads to a local produce shop just beside the ferry ticket office)

Got upgraded to business class on the ferry from jeju mainland to Udo island! Full recliner seat! Oh wait apparently everyone too! There are no seats on ferry to udo island. Everyone can sit or even lie around or just enjoy the sea breeze outside for this 15 minute ride

Yummy peanut ice-cream and tangerine sherbet at Udo Island (Jimmys natural icecream)

Seafood (crab, prawn, squid and abalone) spicy noodle soup for just US$12 at Udo Island

Seopjikoji

Korean GPS coordinates (by phone number): 7604251 (This number will NOT bring you to Seopjikoji and will bring you to the middle of nowhere so just drive in this direction and then follow the roadsigns pointing towards Seopjikoji; this number 7820080 might get you there – unverified)

On the Seopjikoji trail to the church made famous by the All-In Korean drama

Ginseng Chicken Dinner (at Seogwipo)
