S. THOME E PRINCIPE 1898 (RRRR)
São Tomé and Príncipe officially the Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, is a Portuguese-speaking island nation in the Gulf of Guinea, off the western equatorial coast of Central Africa. It consists of two archipelagos around the two main islands: São Tomé and Príncipe, located about 140 kilometers (87 mi) apart and about 250 and 225 kilometers (155 and 140 mi), respectively, off the northwestern coast of Gabon. Both islands are part of an extinct volcanic mountain range. São Tomé, the sizable southern island, is situated just north of the equator. It was named in honor of Saint Thomas by Portuguese explorers who arrived at the island on his feast day. With a population of 163,000 (2010), São Tomé and Príncipe is the second-smallest African country (Seychelles is the smallest African country). It is also the smallest Portuguese-speaking country.
Asking also long-time fellow collectors they never saw such a passport from this tiny island in the Gulf of Guinea so it might be the very first occurrence of such a document. Imagine how how large was the population back then in 1898 when the passport was issued. For sure significant smaller. I was told that also the $3000 Reis revenue stamp is pretty rare which should be interesting for revenue stamp collectors as well. The condition is excellent. 700 EUR
BRITISH PASSPORT – BERMUDA 1957 (RRR)
This passport is a quite rare collectible and it comes in a very good condition even if the gold color of the coat of arms on the cover is largely missing. The rest is very well. 300 EUR
Passport of a Holocaust Survivor (RRRR)
Germany – 1938 with infamous big red “J-Stamp” for Jew
The Holocaust also known as the Shoah, was the mass murder or genocide of approximately six million Jews during World War II, a programme of systematic state-sponsored murder by Nazi Germany, led by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party, throughout German-occupied territory.Of the nine million Jews who had resided in Europe before the Holocaust, approximately two-thirds were killed. Over one million Jewish children were killed in the Holocaust, as were approximately two million Jewish women and three million Jewish men.A network of over 40,000 facilities in Germany and German-occupied territory were used to concentrate, hold, and kill Jews and other victims. THIS is one of the very few Jewish survivors which could escape the death camps!
German Passport issued in Dec 1938 in Breslau for ISRAEL Erich Schwenk
Occupation: Bookbinder, Passport No.: 837 / 38, several visas & revenues e.g. UK, Chile incl. final destination and safe harbor in Chile, including note of the passport office in Breslau (rare)! 32 pages, excellent condition, most rare and a clear evidence of the Holocaust. 380 EUR
BRITISH PASSPORT – COLONY OF GIBRALTAR 1952 (RRR)
This is a fantastic item for every UK collector. What is special? Well, firstly Gibraltar is not easy to find. Secondly look at the issue date which is indeed exceptional. The passport was issued 19.3.52 just 3 weeks after King George’s VI death on 6.2.52 and young Elizabeth was not yet QEII as her coronation was well later on 2.6.53. The document was valid till 1957 and was then renewed till 1962. I would say such a (in-between) document is at least quite rare to find nowadays if not unique! The document itself is full of visas (several Spanish visas) and is in excellent condition. 330 EUR
