15 Online Shopping Hacks for Cyber Monday

Who doesn’t love the idea of staying home and getting your holiday shopping done on Cyber Monday? If the idea of shopping from your own couch excites you, there are a few things you should know. Take a look below at 15 online shopping hacks for cyber Monday, so you can make the most of this popular shopping day when cyber deals are at their best.

1. Watch out for Amazon Lightning Deals.

Everyone loves Amazon Lightning deals! Amazon will be one of the hottest cyber spots for online deals but you have to act fast, these deals are sold in limited quantities and will always go fast.

2. Buy hot deals as you see them, don’t wait.

A good thing never lasts long, so if you see a hot deal GRAB IT. Most deals, even online, are in limited quantities or for a limited time. Get that hot item in your cart and check out, even if you have more shopping to return and do.

3. Patronize retailers that offer free shipping.

If you can avoid paying for shipping, by all means do it. Amazon offers free shipping when you spend $49 or more, and free shipping to Prime Members. Patronize retailers that offer free shipping so you can save even more on your purchase. Target, Best Buy and Jet.com are 3 of my favorites besides Amazon.

You can also take advantage of this FREE Amazon Prime Trial Offer to shop from now till Christmas & Get FREE 2 Day Shipping on every order from Amazon.

4. Download the Passion For Savings App to get Hot Deal Alerts.

5. Watch the “cart timer” to make sure you check out before your cart is emptied.

If there is a cart timer at check out, pay attention. You may only have 10 minutes or so to check out before your items are returned to the shelf and up for grabs. If this means checking out and coming back for more, so be it. Otherwise you may lose a deal.

6. Shop with a rewards program that pays you to shop, like Ebates.

Why not get paid to shop? Sign up for free with Ebates so you can earn cash back on your purchases to all sorts of online retailers. It is so easy, and at the end of the season you could have a check coming your way.

7. Screen shot all of your order confirmation pages.

This is one of the easiest ways to keep track of your purchases. Screen shot the confirmation page off all your orders so you can reference them later if needed or even find tracking information should something become lost.

8. Sign up for an email account just for your online purchases.

Are you worried about missing an important email? Create an email account just for your online purchases. This way all of your emails for your purchases are organized in one mailbox for easy reference.

9. Choose cheaper/longer shipping to reduce your final costs.

Since you are shopping way ahead of the holidays, opt for the longer shipping time if shipping isn’t free. This way you can save money and know that your gifts will still arrive in plenty of time. Some sites like Macy’s and Amazon offer Freebies or Bonuses for choosing slower shipping options!

10. Shop the Daily Deal Sites.
Zulily, RueLaLa, and even Gilt offer daily deals during the holiday season. Be sure you are on their email lists so you are aware of any daily deals that could prove beneficial for you.

11. Use a safe method of payment such as Visa Checkout.

Paypal or Visa Checkout are some of the safest ways to pay for online purchases. Sites like Visa Checkout often offer special discounts on your purchases when you checkout using their system. I have saved big on sites like ShoeBuy.com, Staples, Zulily and more just for using Visa Checkout!

12. Be aware of all return policies prior to purchase.

Some deals are hot, but return policies are not. Be sure the hot deal you are jumping on allows for returns if you aren’t satisfied with the product. I use my RedCard at Target because I have 90 days to make a return and I don’t have to have my receipt which means I can take back the item without any hassle until well after the Holidays so if I find a better deal I can simply return the item.

13. Send items to your workplace if theft is a concern.

Are you worried about your online purchases being vulnerable on your porch? Then send them to your workplace instead so you know someone will be there to receive them.

14. Skip the optional holiday gift wrap.

During the holidays you will see the option for gift wrap when you check out. For around $4, this is not usually worth it, not when you can buy four rolls of wrapping paper for that at Dollar Tree.

15. Send items directly to recipients.

To save shipping costs later, why not ship gift items directly to the recipient? This way you don’t have to repackage and ship them off to distant family and friends later.
