I have been such a slug the last month. And I will have to say I’m not sorry. I’m really enjoying life being a little calmer. The kids do their thing and as long as I do laundry and cook, all is well.
I’ve been doing LOTS of spinning. The first is Rue de Pond Scum in a 60% merino 40% Bamboo blend from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. It’s a two ply and I ended up with almost 700 yards from 8 ounces.
My next spinning project was 8 ounces of 50/50 Silk Merino from Abstract Fiber, called Bonfire. I had a photo of the fiber in my last blog post
almost two weeks ago.
Oops!
I have almost 500 yards of this. The picture is not very good. This turned out far prettier than the photo.
The fiber I spun yesterday is also from Blue Moon Fiber Arts. It’s 75% BFL 25% Tussah and the colorway is Twinkle Twinkle Little Vampire. I was going for at least a dk weight or heavier, so I only ended up with 310 yards. I love it!!! It’s going to be a big squooshy cowl, I think.
I’ve really been slacking on the knitting recently. Yes, I’m aware of the irony of creating more yarn while knitting less of it! I did put a bunch of time in last weekend on Rosalind by Sivia Harding. The yarn I chose was The Plucky Knitter Bello. Mom and I are going to a retreat in October hosted by Sivia, with The Plucky Knitter there as our source for our yarn addiction.
And yes, there are beads! Why is it that beads are as necessary to a good shawl is sprinkles are to cupcakes? I love the added sparkle.
So there you have it. My boring life in four photos. I’m pretty content with boring right now.
