Shorter family vacations can be full of adventure without a whirlwind ending in exhaustion.  Consider this itinerary as a guideline while planning your summer trip to Park City just remember to pack the sunscreen.

Day One – a bit of everything

One of our family traditions when vacationing in Park City starts with a trip to the Park City Visitor’s Center at Kimball Junction.  In a few short minutes, we’re up to speed on town events, new restaurants, and tips based on the weather conditions.  This is time well spent!

After settling in at our home away from home, we’re off to explore Park City Mountain Resort.  Younger family members look forward to exploring the Little Miners Park and Adventure Zone while older kids race each other on the alpine slide and ZipRider zip lines then cruise together on the alpine coaster.  Everyone gets to burn off some of that travel adrenaline and work up an appetite.

Then, we hop aboard the free Park City Transit Bus for a leisurely drive to the top of Historic Main Street.  We stroll along and let the kids choose where we will eat.  With so many family friendly options, we’re always well fed and everyone is happy.

We like to explore the new exhibits at the Park City Museum and Kimball Art Center.  Depending on the events calendar, we’ll attend a show at the Egyptian Theater.

Ending the day with an ice cream treat is a cool cap to the first night in town.

Day Two – Gear up early and get out there!

Park City is an outdoor paradise with adventures suited to all skill and activity levels.  The hiking and mountain bike trails at Park City Mountain Resort offer breathtaking views and spectacular terrain.  We hop aboard the Scenic Lift Rides with gear in tow and spend most of the day on mountain.  Grab some lunch at the Resort Base and enjoy live concerts or pack a picnic lunch and kick back in the alpine shade.

We round out the day at the resort with a family friendly challenge on the miniature 18-hole golf course.  The winner gets to choose where to eat dinner that night!

Usually, the kids win and choose to eat and play at Jupiter Bowl.  This high energy bowling alley serves a tasty full menu and desserts large enough to share.  That’s how we roll!

Half day – Tag on these experiences to either end of your trip to complete your vacation.

Explore the Utah Olympic Park Museums and take a guided tour of the 2002 Winter Olympic Games sites.  For an added burst of adrenaline, we hopped aboard the Comet for a face paced bobsled ride we’ll always remember!

Take a walk at the Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter.  The kids like to get their hands dirty exploring the trails and learn a lot on the guided nature tours.

Every Sunday in summer, plan to stroll along Historic Main Street for the Park Silly Sunday Market.  Vendors sell a variety of unique souvenirs to take home, delicious treats to eat, and street performers to entertain and delight.
