As a homeschooling mother, I am always searching for educational hands-on manipulatives to use in lessons with my kids. My daughter just started kindergarten, but I have already begun introducing her to the fundamentals of science. I plan to continue her science education as she grows older and will do the same with my son. When recently offered the chance to review a molecular model kit from Clicks in exchange for my honest opinion, I eagerly accepted the opportunity.

Price and Design

The Clicks molecular model kit currently costs $24.97 on Amazon. Made with high-quality, durable, high-gloss plastic in color schemes adherent to international standards, the lightweight and portable kit comes with 50 atoms and 90 bonds that demonstrate functional groups and other concepts of organic chemistry. Use the kit to make simple as well as complex organic molecules including amino acids, fatty acids, peptides, polysaccharides, purines, glycerides, pyrimidines and phospholipids. Packaged in a transparent box, the pieces are non-toxic and safe for all students. The kit also comes with a summary of organic reactions as a handy reference that fits inside the box. Clicks offers a three-year warranty.

Performance

My kids are still quite young and not ready for the complexities of organic chemistry, but I plan to introduce basic concepts soon. My daughter loves the song “Why Does the Sun Shine?” and already knows terms such as hydrogen and helium. Using the molecular model kit from Clicks, I can further expand on her interest in the composition of the sun to start teaching the periodic table and simple molecules such as water. My daughter is a hands-on learner, so seeing and manipulating a molecular model will definitely help her better understand the concept. If your child is learning about molecules, this model kit offers a perfect hands-on learning tool.

As for the quality of the Clicks molecular model kit, I am quite impressed. The plastic pieces seem very sturdy, meaning the kit should last for many years and children to come. I can easily assemble various molecules by inserting the bonds into the atoms. I can also easily disassemble my molecules once I am finished. However, the pieces stay firmly attached while in use. The different colors are bright, which helps make learning a little more fun. I also love the transparent box that comes with the kit. I can easily store all the small pieces in the box for safekeeping. The latches on the side keep the box securely closed. Overall I am incredibly pleased with my molecular model kit from Clicks and recommend one to any student studying organic chemistry.

Final Verdict

If you are shopping for a hands-on learning tool that demonstrates functional groups and other concepts of organic chemistry, I highly recommend the molecular model kit from Clicks. Made with high-quality, durable, high-gloss plastic in color schemes adherent to international standards, the kit comes with 50 atoms and 90 bonds that can be used to make simple and complex molecules. The non-toxic pieces are easily to assemble and dissemble but remain firmly connected while in use. I additionally love the included transparent box, which keeps all the small pieces safely in one place. I plan on using my new Clicks molecular model kit for years to come while homeschooling my children.
